In this PS tutorial, we will mainly learn how to use PS to remove excess hair, remove spots, skin, beauty pupil and so on. As long as you have mastered these PS techniques, no matter how the photography technology, after the PS revision, your character portrait image finished product quality can at least improve a grade. Of course, these PS skill is not very difficult, quite easy to master, together to learn it:

One, remove excess hair

It's easy to overlook the smoothness of a person's hair when taking photos. In Fig. 01, for example, the hair is not supple enough to block the face of the person. This kind of picture effect will certainly distract people's attention, so we need to do some processing of excess hair. First the hair to do a bit of finishing, and then to the head to do a high light effect, can greatly improve the overall effect of the picture. Of course, the PS operation here is not difficult. In the PS Layers panel, create a new layer, select the Clone tool, and set the sampling range to all layers. Select the brush, set the opacity 100%, and then press CTRL + SPACE, drag the mouse to the right to zoom in.

Press ALT and click on the background color next to the hair and then trim the scattered hair. Continue to tidy the hair around the head, according to the different lengths of the hair, constantly adjust. Switch to the stain healing brush tool, select all layers to sample, and brush off the face's hair.

　Second, the use of brush tools to enhance the facial level

Selectively increasing or decreasing the facial contours, such as zygomatic and mandibular, is an effective way to enhance facial layering and characterization. Press ALT and click the new Layer button in the layers panel and go to the dialog box where you set up the new layer.

Select mode for soft light, tick the fill soft light neutral color (50% ash), then click OK. Select the Brush tool, press D to reset the color to black and white, set brush opacity to 10%, followed by the portrait of the face and body brushing black, high light place brushing white.

When the above operation is done, select Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur in the main menu bar and set the radius to 50 pixels, which makes the effect look more natural.

　　Third, to repair the face

The Stain healing brush tool, the cloning tool, and the patch tool are frequently used in professional-mapping operations. Use them in combination to clear spots, scratches, and so on within minutes.

In Photoshop CS6 or above, the patch tool increases the functionality of content perception. This is similar to content-aware padding, but patching tools are more useful for grooming and, more importantly, can be sampled for all layers as well as the stain healing brush tool, the Clone tool, and the healing brush tool. This is all the repair, cloning, and other operations can be done on a separate layer.

　Iv. How to remove light points

Sometimes we see some very dazzling points of light in a character portrait. In some scenes, these points of light not only scatter the focus of the picture, but also make it difficult to see the characters. Of course, in the portrait, the main highlight is the portrait itself, not the points of light. So, the job we have to do is to lighten or eliminate these light points so that we can recreate the face of the person.

PS, the solution to delete the light point is to use the patching tools and less commonly used dodge tools. Copy the layer, and then select the Patching tool. If you are using CS6 or above, select the patch option as normal, and then create a selection around the light point.

Drag the selection to a different tonal-like area and completely erase it. Then press Ctrl+h to remove the selection, select Edit > Fade (CTRL+F) in the main menu, and reduce the opacity to 40%, which will get the light point of the tonal reduction.

　V. Changing the shape of the body

Every photographer knows that something can make a person look thinner. For example, a forward tilt or slightly higher than the face can reduce the double chin, the legs stand or do a l-shaped posture can make the body look better, when shooting the face of the shadow (behind the surface or side) exposed, can make the face look thinner.

You know, it's all about sensitive topics. In fact, Photoshop is another kind of "weight loss" method. This is not about changing the size of the big body, just how to quickly reduce the bulge, cut the chin and fat. In PS, the best tool is the liquefaction tool. And the PS liquefaction tool technique is very easy to master.

Select Filter > Liquefaction in the main menu bar, and then control the mouse will need to "lose weight" place to trim well. In the course of the tutorial, the characters need to be trimmed with armpit bumps and waistline parts.

　Six, beautiful eyes.

Most photographers would agree that the eye is an important part of the portrait, so it is worth doing some trimming to attract more attention. Here, we will focus on enhancing the main components of our eyes, but if you want to make it better, consider changing the color, adding a light, making up your makeup, or even getting them bigger.

The eye is understood to be composed of four elements of pupil, Iris, white and eyelash, which is very useful for trimming eyes. Each element requires a different set of tools. Increase the hue inside the iris, darken the pupil and iris edges, lighten the white light and sharpen the eyelashes. The tricky thing here is not to be afraid to lower the opacity of the layer and adjust the hue.

　　Seven, adjust the clarity

You might think that camera raw is just a widget in Photoshop, just to convert raw to another image file, or to turn the color on in Photoshop. But careful study, you will find that camera raw is actually a very useful tool.

One setting for Camera raw is sharpness tuning. When set to positive, the sharpness adjustment increases the contrast of the midtones so that the details of the pattern are displayed; When set to a negative value, the sharpness adjustment can bring a very nice softening effect, which makes the character's skin significantly brighter. Sharpness adjustment is only a basic adjustment, but the key is that it can also be used with the adjustment brush (ACR) with the use of the grinding effect is very good to appear.

Eight, Frame set

The best way to shoot a good image in a photographic phase is to be sure. But when you need to shoot a character, you need to move often so that the frame becomes tricky. Usually, we try to express a certain topic through an image, which means that what should be included in the picture and what should not be included. Fortunately, modern sensors are becoming more sophisticated, and we can create them in Photoshop.

You will see the portrait photographer make adjustments again and again. Sometimes a slight tilt to the frame will result in a satisfying effect. Tilt the head toward the higher shoulder, just as the following figure is seen as a more feminine angle, while the forward tilt is more masculine. 　Nine, remove black rim of the eye

Daily life caused by the effects of your eyes. Unless you have spent one months in a luxurious spa for 10 hours of sleep, you will have a basic black eye in this age. Compared with most dressing techniques, we do not want to completely remove the pouch because it will look a bit fake. We just want to make the dark circles seem less obvious.

Enlarge your eyes, and then click to create a new layer, select the Clone tool from the tool panel, then find the option bar at the top of the screen, select mode: Lighten (this means you will only replace the color darker than your clone source area), set opacity to 20%, and set sampling for all layers. Hold down ALT and sample from the dark area below the cheek of the direct cloned source, and then use the Clone tool to wipe a few, lowering the hue.

　Ten, grinding skin

Professional practitioners usually spend hours on the skin of the model, with cloning tools and patching tools to focus on removing each defect. Of course, most of us don't have the time and patience to work like this, but luckily, there are some things we can take a short cut. The quickest and best way is to use the Gaussian blur filter to grind the skin. Using a Gaussian blur filter not only makes the skin soft and smooth, but also retains a lot of facial detail. So, don't think that the filter will make the skin look like a plastic toy, on the contrary, you can get beautiful real skin.

If you want to control skin smoothing effect, use Gaussian blur (Filter > Blur > Gaussian blur). As shown in the following figure, the more subtle the blur radius is, the more amazing the effect is in the skin processing phase. When operating on a mask, do not need to be too precise, quickly draw a large range, and then adjust with a soft brush.
