Starting with Windows 2000, Microsoft provides users with the "Recovery Console" (hereinafter referred to as the console), through our previous article, I believe you have learned that there is a large failure in Windows, such as: even if the safe mode can not enter, you could launch it to save the system. Although the console and the previous DOS in the interface and usage somewhat similar, but there are a lot of differences, so in use may encounter some small difficulties, we will introduce the following.
1. Long folder name must use quotation marks (")
To type long folder or long file names in the console, you must enclose them in quotation quotes. Otherwise, no this folder or file is displayed. For example: To enter the "c:windowswindowsupdate" directory, type the command: "CD c:windows" WindowsUpdate ", or" CD C: Windowswindowsupdate ", or" CD "C: Windowswindowsupdate "".
My experience: If you use the dir command column directory in the console, the result will be the opposite of previous DOS, where the file or folder name is listed on the last side, and the first is the creation time. In addition, "computer enthusiasts" 16 and 18 of the Erunt software is really great, several times in the installation of software problems, the system blue screen can not start, I have entered the console, into the Winnterdnt folder, where the daily opening of the system registry backup, their folder named " 2004-11-03 "This format, so enter the" CD "2004-11-03" ". Recently the software has been upgraded, and the download address is: Http://home.t-online.de/home/lars.hederer/erunt/erunt-setup.exe.
2. Folder name contains spaces you must use quotation marks (")
To type a folder or file name that contains spaces in the console, you must enclose it in quotation marks. Otherwise, "Invalid parameter" is displayed. For example: To enter the c:windowswindows update directory, type cd c:windows Windows update, or CD C: windowswindows update, or CD C: Windowswindows Update "".
3. Access to non-Windows directories
By default, the console can access only the Windows directory. To access other directories, you need to perform the following steps.
Step one: Log on to Windows, click start → run, type the gpedit.msc command and enter, click Computer Configuration →windows settings → security settings → Local policies → security options, and double-click Recovery Console: Allow floppy copy and access to all drives and folders, and then select Enabled.
Step Two: Enter the console, type the "Set" command at the command prompt, and the screen appears after the carriage return:
AllowWildCards = FALSE
AllowAllPaths = FALSE
AllowRemovableMedia = FALSE
NoCopyPrompt = FALSE
You can then access other directories by typing the "set allowallpaths = True" command at a command prompt and entering (note that there is a space around the equals sign). Otherwise, "No access" is displayed.
4. Return to the previous level of directory
You must type "CD ..." command, you cannot use the CD command.
5. Be careful with the change of the letter
The drive letter may change in the console, for example, the location of the removable hard drive may be in advance. To avoid manipulation errors, enter the "MAP" command and return, which displays all of the current available drive letters, file systems, and space sizes, which can be judged accordingly.
Small Tips
To exit the console, type the exit command at the command prompt to restart the computer.
