The Debian Linux System (3.16.0-4-AMD64) on VMware virtual machines has recently been upgraded, and the original vmware-tools version of the kernel upgrade failed to use the Shared Folders feature of the virtual machine and the host.
Workaround:
1. Get here
Https://github.com/rasa/vmware-tools-patches
Download Vmware-tools-patches package;
and download the latest vmware-tools:vmwaretools-9.9.2-2496486;
2. Unpack the Vmware-tools package
The content is continuously decompressed, finally can get Linux.iso file;
3. Unpack the Vmware-tools-patches package
Upload the downloaded vmware-tools-patches package to the virtual machine and unzip it to the/home/yourusername/vmware-tools-patches
4. Load the Linux.iso into the virtual machine CD drive
Copy/media/cdrom0/vmwaretools-9.9.2-2496486.tar.gz to/home/yourusername/vmware-tools-patches
5. Look here

> Solved it by Modifying/vmhgfs/vmhgfs-d_alias-kernel-3.17.7-tools-9.9.0.patch:
Changed the (kernelversionchecks) from
...LINUX_VERSION_CODE < KERNEL_VERSION(3, 17, 7) ...
To
...LINUX_VERSION_CODE < KERNEL_VERSION(3, 16, 0) ...
根据提示修改/home/YourUserName/vmware-tools-patches/patches/vmhgfs/04-vmhgfs-d_alias-kernel-3.17.7-tools-9.9.0.patch
6. 重新编译安装
sudo
cd /home/YourUserName/vmware-tools-patches/
./untar-and-patch-and-compile.sh
搞定
Reinstall Vmwaretools After upgrading the VMware virtual Machine Debian system
