Skype usage tips

Learn the following five major features of Skype to make it easy for you to play skype!

First, check the Skype call statistics

Please click on "Tools" → "options" → "advanced" on the Skype panel and check the last "technical information to show the call" so that you can see some important data during your Skype call (whether pc-pc or Pc-phone). If you're upset about the bad effect of your Skype call, this information will help you analyze why your call is not good or why the file transfer is always so slow.

The following two screenshots, the first figure shows that your call quality is very good, and the second is a description of your corporate network or poor home network caused by the bad call effect.

Here are two important data you want to understand, one is "roundtrip", the other is "sessionout" and "Sessionin". The first is to tell you how long it takes (in milliseconds) for the sound of Skype calls to return to and fro. If your time is over 100 milliseconds, your call will be affected and delayed, as we have used old long distance calls (I don't think we've experienced them).

The second data indicates whether your call has been relayed. If your call shows "Relay UDP" or "Relay TCP," The call between you and your friend is not a direct point-to-point connection, but is relayed through a third-party user. If your "roundtrip" data is larger, the longer your call is delayed, the more you will feel if you are over 125ms. The transfer of the call will usually have a relatively high "roundtrip".

If the "roundtrip" data is also relatively large, while the call is relayed, then the effect of such calls will be very poor. If both sides use the LAN, and through a third party to relay, it may be that your router has become old and can not handle direct Peer-to-peer connection, if you are direct ADSL broadband and this situation, it may be that your network is not configured well.

Configure your Skype with a gateway or USB phone, this way you can use your landline or cordless phone to dial, pick up Skype calls, and when your Skype calls, a landline or cordless phone will ring as usual, even if you are not next to the computer and you can know Skype calls. Most Skype devices have the function of echo suppression and noise reduction, which will make your Skype call more effective.

Third, set your status, privacy and emotional information

You want to improve your communication with other people through Skype instead of being bothered all day. You can also pick up a phone call from a stranger or someone you don't even want to talk to. Then setting your state, privacy and emotional information can be a good solution to these annoyances.

Setting your status is to tell your contact person whether they can contact you now. Click "File" → "change state" to set the state you want, as shown in the figure you will see the following choices:

Setting your status allows your contacts to get a good idea of what you want to do now. By clicking on "Tools" → "options" → "privacy", you can set up who to talk to or chat with. You can also choose to chat or talk to people on your contact list. The following illustration:

Clicking your name on the top of the Skype panel will show you the following message box, where you can enter any text you want to enter to tell your contact person what you think:
