In the Ubuntu14.04 installed with VM11/VM10 in Win7, after installing the VMware tools that come with it, there is no shared folder that was previously set up in/mnt/hgfs
Here's how to fix it:
If Open-vm-tools is installed, uninstall it first:
[Plain]View PlainCopy
- sudo apt-get remove Open-vm-tools
- sudo apt-get remove open-vm-tools-desktop
- sudo apt-get autoremove
Download the zip file to https://github.com/rasa/vmware-tools-patches to get to Ubuntu and then execute:
[Plain]View PlainCopy
- Unzip Vmware-tools-patches-mater.zip
Click "Virtual machines-Reinstall VMware Tools"
Copy the VMware Tools compressed package into the folder after the unzip just after "Vmware-tools-patches-master", then execute
[Plain]View PlainCopy
- ./untar-and-patch-and-compile.sh
And then you can see what's under/mnt/hgfs.
