If you want to set up a boot entry that requires sudo permission to execute, and you don't need to enter a password, then you need to add the program to /etc/sudoers . To line this, first execute sudo visudo , add the following line at the end of the file

<your username> All=nopasswd:/usr/local/cuda-6.5/samples/bin/x86_64/linux/release/devicequery

Then create a new item in Ubuntu Statup applications, and fill in the command bar

sudo /usr/local/cuda-6.5/samples/bin/x86_64/linux/release/devicequery
