Everyone is struggling in the workplace. It is not for colleagues or for the company, but for yourself!
"Is this still useful ?", Many of my friends are ridiculous. "What an obvious truth !". However, although this is the case, the reality is not as simple as people think.
Lao Li, a qualified project manager, is recognized as a technical expert. Everyone once thought that he would become a technical director sooner or later, and he was so self-expected. However, after many years, he is still a project manager.
"Does it mean that he is not doing well in the project, so he won't be able to get promoted ?" I had such suspicion. Later, I knew that his project had been doing well, but he had a problem-a technical problem. With the words of a leader: He has been doing technology and has never done management. In other words, it is not suitable for management.
Lao Li is a technical expert. In his eyes, the Project Manager will design the system, build the technical framework of the system, and rush to solve technical difficulties and write the coreCode. So he is very enthusiastic about technical trends, technical details, and new technologies, but he is not at all concerned about management. He thinks that the project is successful, and his promotion is just around the corner.
Ask him, "Why don't you learn management skills ?" His answer is often: "I am highly skilled and well-formed. Who are I afraid ?!" "Management is nothing at all. Why didn't I see any big entrepreneur who was born from learning management ?!" And so on.
In fact, this is the reason for his failure. This idea is one of the misunderstandings that the project manager has known.
Project Manager friends, if you despise management capability cultivation, your career may be like this:
◆ Others believe in you, but do not trust your abilities. He may send you a good guy, but he will not look for you when doing things;
◆ People who trust you trust your technical capabilities, but do not trust your management capabilities. He may think that you are a reliable and qualified technical expert, but you can manage your project;
◆ Others may trust your people, your technical capabilities, and your management capabilities, but do not trust your management prospects. He will think that you are a person doing things, but not a person doing things. In the future, the project will continue to look for you. When you can be promoted ......
Is this the final result you expected?
In the end, technical work is the work of the technical director, and it is something that is irrelevant to management.. If the management cannot keep up, the technical work will be better, and the distance between the project manager and the core value of management will gradually grow, but the project manager and the core value of management will become closer and closer. In other words, a project manager that only concentrates on technology, the larger the project, the more people, the longer the time, the smaller the value of his own.
We know that,Success is not about "others", but about "yourself ".. In the workplace, as a project manager, if you do not know "what is another person's business, what is your own business", and are willing to work hard, even if the project succeeds, it is also the success of colleagues, the department, and the company, rather than your success.
We should know that technology is the work of the technical director, not the work of the Project Manager.Even in some projects, the combination of the technical supervisor and the Project Manager is even more important for the project manager. As a project manager, I am mainly engaged in technical development, and I am not surprised by Yuan Mu Qiuyu.
Here, I would like to remind those who are in technical misunderstanding:
-- What determines your success or failure is no longer technology or machine, but organization and people!
-- What determines your success or failure is no longer your own technology, but your weak interpersonal skills!
If you are not aware of these two points, the "Project Manager" will be the peak of your career.
