Recently, because the completion of the re-return to Ubuntu, there is a Win10 ThinkPad X240s , and finally successfully completed the Windows 10 教育版 Ubuntu Kylin 15.10 two-system configuration, the following (multi-image caution) is I complete the process of the notes.

Installation method

Ubuntu is the ideal choice for many Linux beginners, and if you happen to be tired of the Windows series or do not love, then listen well, there are three ways to help you into the new world of Ubuntu.

    1. Virtual machine Installation
原料: ISO, VMware, or VirtualBox for Ubuntu Kylin
优点: One-stop service, safe and simple
      缺点: Poor user experience, ineffective

    2. Wubi Installation
      原料: Ubuntu kylin ISO, Wubi.exe
      优点: Click-to-run, default Windows boot
缺点: Easy to crash, standby and network prone problems

    3. USB Stick Installation
原料: Ubuntu kylin ISO, UltraISO, EASYBCD, u disk (>=2g)
优点: Simple and safe, dual system
      缺点: Default Ubuntu Boot

Installation Environment

My principle is, since play to play the most authentic, so I choose U disk Mirror dual system.

System Properties Game Start

The installation is formally started below, step by step.

  1. Data backup
Don't worry, do you have a backup? If you see this, you have chosen the most risky route, before the game starts, be sure to do a good job of data Backup, data backup , data backup .

  2. Create a disk partition

    • Press and hold Win + Xand select "Disk Management":

      Disk Management Overview
    • Select a larger unallocated disk, right-click and select "Compressed volume", here choose to compress the space around the e-disk 50G:

      Compressed volumes
    • After clicking "Compress", a black 50G"unallocated space"appears at the back of the E-drive:

      50G unallocated space
At this point, the disk partitioning process is complete.
  3. Disable Quick Start (optional)

    • Press and hold Win + X(remember this versatile combination), select "Power Options", and then click Execute:

"Select the function of the power button"

"Change settings that are not currently available"

      Deselect "Enable Quick Launch (recommended)"

Note: "Quick Launch" is a new feature introduced in the Windows 8 era, and it is recommended that the feature be turned off because "Quick Launch" will affect the grub boot process, may not be able to load Ubuntu, and finally select "Save Changes".

  4. Disable Secure boot

    • Go to System "settings" and execute in turn:

      Updates and security

Recovery > Advanced Startup > Restart now

      Troubleshooting

      Advanced options

      Startup settings
Perform a reboot (not doing nothing).

      Startup settings
Most machines default to secure boot, and if you don't trust it, reboot directly into boot, simple and rude:

      Boot>security>secure Boot

Make sure secure boot is disabled

Note: Similarly, "secure Boot" is also a security measure taken by the Windows 8 era to protect against rootkit viruses, but it also prevents dual booting of Windows and other operating systems, so make sure that secure boot is disabled before loading the Ubuntu image.

  5. Make an Ubuntu startup USB drive
(You can skip this step if you have installed your operating system with a USB stick)

    • Backing up a USB flash drive for writing
    • Enter UltraISO, open file:

      Open image File
    • Start > Write hard disk Image:

      Write to hard disk image
    • Write By default value:

      Write to hard disk image
    • Finish writing:

Everything is ready, as usual reload system, plug the U disk, according to the machine to find the shortcut to boot (my is F1), the following step by step detailed.

      • Locate the mirrored USB drive, adjust the priority order, save and Exit:

        Welcome page
      • Complete the default settings:

        Preparation matters

Note: If the network and space are at a constant speed, it is recommended that you select "Download updates in Installation" and "Install this third-party software".

      • A very important step, select "Other Options":

        Installation Type selection
      • Partition for free disk:
In this step you will see the unused disk space we allocated earlier, we are about to partition this free disk, in order to make it easier to understand the next operation, here is a brief introduction to the installation process involves several major Linux partitions:
        /: Storage System files, 10GB ~ 15GB recommended;
        swap: Swap partition, which is the virtual memory of the Linux system, is recommended to be twice times the physical memory;
        /home: Home directory, storage space for music, pictures and downloads, and finally allocate all the remaining space;
/boot: Contains the system kernel and system boot required files, realize the key to dual system, recommended 200M.

    Select free Disk

Select the free disk, click +, first allocate 16G space to/partition, choose "Primary Partition","space start position",Ext4 and "mount point/":

    Create/partition

Note: In fact, a hard disk can accommodate a maximum of 4 primary partitions, or 3 primary partitions plus an extended partition, when selecting the partition type, the "Idle partition when installing the system" condition may appear, in order to resolve the problem, the following will select "Logical Partition".
Repeat the creation step, allocate 16G space to the swap partition, select "Logical Partition" (primary partition Full),"Space start location", for "swap space":

    Create swap partition

Then allocate 200M space to the/boot partition, select logical partition (primary partition Full),space start location, EXT4, and mount point/boot:

    Create/boot partition

Finally, allocate all remaining space to the/home partition, select logical partition (primary partition Full),space start location, EXT4, and mount point///.

    Create/home partition

Select the drive letter of/boot as the device to install the boot boot, and be sure that you are consistent:

Ensure that the boot device number and/boot are consistent

Write changes to disk and get a cup of coffee:

      • After the coffee, just go to the final setting:

        Location

        Keyboard layout

        User Information

        Welcome interface

        Done

Restart the system and enter Windows to complete the final boot settings.

  7. EASYBCD booting Ubuntu
Enter EASYBCD, select "Add New Entry", select the Linux/bsd operating system, and select the Linux partition near 200M in the "Drives" section:

    EASYBCD settings

After completing the entry, restart the computer, you will find WINDOWS10 and Ubuntu dual system has been completed installation, wish to have fun!

    After adding the entry
    Boot screen for Windows boot
    Ubuntu Kylin Desktop
At last

The biggest benefit of booting Ubuntu with Windows is that when you no longer need Ubuntu, you delete all of the partitions in Windows Disk Management directly, and then delete the corresponding entries in EASYBCD. About Ubuntu boot Windows method, if you are interested, welcome to try and share.
