In addition to mobile payment, data transmission, and access control identification, NFC can also be charged. Recently, a Dutch company proposed a functional solution that uses NFC technology to charge mobile devices. This solution transmits energy directly through an integrated NFC chip without the need for power cords or additional power input interfaces. Therefore, once the NFC wireless charging application comes true, the portable electronic products will be simpler and the cost will be lower in the future.
This application scheme was proposed by VTT in the Netherlands. VTT believes that NFC technology can transmit point-to-point data, which is accompanied by energy output during the transmission process. Therefore, when the power is increased, one NFC device can fully perform point-to-point wireless charging for another mobile device. In the visible future, all desktops and laptops with NFC functions can charge mobile phones, tablets, wireless mouse and keyboard devices wirelessly. At the same time, the original interfaces for charging, power cords, and other plug-in devices will also be greatly reduced.
NFC wireless charging can also improve the power usage efficiency of mobile devices. On the one hand, wireless charging is more efficient, faster, and less costly than wired charging. On the other hand, because the entire charging function is controlled by an NFC chip, the device can switch to the battery charging status in a wireless charging environment, and switch back to the battery discharge status in an environment without wireless charging, this greatly improves the endurance of mobile devices.
In addition, NFC wireless charging uses point-to-point transmission, which is safer and more controllable than other wireless charging technologies.
However, the biggest problem facing this NFC application solution is not a technical problem, but a standard problem-the current NFC standard does not provide an interface specification that matches the wireless charging transmission power. Therefore, to implement this NFC function, you must modify the interface specifications developed by the NFC forum. However, because this technology is attractive enough, it is not impossible to modify the standard.
