Xmind Tutorial: The style and form of xmind mind Mapping

The Xmind mind map provides users with a rich set of templates and shortcuts for icons and properties. Therefore, we are free to change the properties of the structure, background, theme, outline, border, etc. of the mind map. In addition, the style features, shadow effects, gradient effects, canvas properties, and styling features provided by Xmind provide us with more options for beautifying mind Mapping.

1. Canvas Properties

Within Xmind, we can set the shape and color properties of each line individually, as well as the rainbow and line gradients for all lines through the canvas. By adding a rainbow color effect, Xmind sets the lines in the clockwise direction of the branch theme to set red, orange, cyan, green, blue, purple, 6 different colors. The line gradient effect will cause the line shape of all branch themes to have a gradient effect, that is, the lines between the central theme and the branch theme appear to be gradually thinning. At the same time, we can also make your mind map more beautiful by setting the background color and wallpaper of the drawing.

Open the Properties view by clicking View-Properties

Click any blank area of the edit window and the Properties window jumps to the Canvas property settings.

In the Properties view advanced options, tick the rainbow color and line tapering options.

2. Shadow effect/Gradient effect/animation effect

Within Xmind, we can add a shadow to the bottom of the theme by using the shadow effect, making the mind map more stereoscopic. The gradient effect causes the theme to be rendered with a light-to-dark effect, giving the theme a richer color change. When we are shrinking or stretching the Xmind theme, animation effects can be animated to gradually shrink or stretch, helping you to improve your presentation.

Click "Edit-Preferences-Mind Map"

Tick the shadow effect, and the gradient effect and animation effect will show the effect.

Tip: The animation effect will occupy a certain amount of memory, recommended for large-memory users, to turn on animation effect.

3. Icons and pictures

For Xmind, users can effectively and aesthetically express the priority, completion, and special marks of specific parts by adding icons and images. The flexible application of the icons and pictures provided by Xmind not only can quickly and effectively convey the information of thought guidance, but also make the mind map more beautiful and reduce the text description.

Select the target theme and click the appropriate icon in the icon view

Click View-Other-resources-Photo Gallery Open the appropriate picture library view

Select a target theme, double-click the corresponding picture in the picture library

(Tip: Select the "Show legend" option in the Properties window by tapping any blank area of the mind map.) Xmind will generate a legend with all the added icons, and the user can customize the meaning of the added icons. )

4. Style

Using the "style" feature provided by Xmind, we are able to quickly change the overall style of the mind map, including the font, color, and shape attributes of themes, lines, backgrounds, wallpaper, background colors, outlines, relationships and profiles. Mind map comes with 7 different styles, commercial, academic, classic, and simple, and the free version of Xmind allows users to apply their own style to mind mapping. Xmind Pro allows users to extract, save, and apply custom styles for greater productivity.

Application style: By clicking the View-style open style view, double-click the selected style, can quickly apply the style to the current mind map

Extract style: Click "Tools-extract style-only extract style" to save and apply the style of the current mind map to other mind mapping.

5. Style

With the "style" feature, we are able to modify the property settings of all parts of the mind map in a holistic, unified, and fast manner. If we just want to modify all the "frame" or "Branch Theme" property settings at once, how can we do that? The styling feature gives us a separate, free, and fast solution to modify themes, frames, relationships, and canvas property settings. We can design personalized styles, save them and apply them to the appropriate theme. Most importantly, extracting and applying styles is completely free.

Style View: Click View-Other-resources-styles, open the style view

Apply styles: Select any or more themes in the mind map, double-click the outer border style in the style view (applying styles to frames, relationships, and canvases is similar)

Extract styles: Select any theme, frame, contact, and canvas in the mind map, click the Extract style icon in the upper right corner of the style window or tap tools-extract style to quickly extract and save the style (if the selected object does not make any property changes, Xmind will not be able to extract the style of the current object)

Delete style: Select any style added by the user in the Styles view, and tap the delete key to delete the style.
