Ma Yun's enthusiasm for integrating "Yahoo China" has not been diminished due to Yahoo's troubles in 2006. Ma Yun tried to integrate Yahoo's business to include Yahoo China in the Alibaba system.
Yesterday, the reporter learned from Yahoo China that Zeng Ming, a former professor at Cheung Kong Business School, has been in charge of Yahoo China for nearly half a year and has basically completed the task of business line integration, and is secretly carrying out an internal code named Domino) project to achieve a new strategy of completely integrating information, communities, and search.
Jack Ma has high hopes for Zeng Ming. After Mr. Xie Wen, former Chinese president of Yahoo, took office for 50 days, Zeng Ming took charge of Yahoo China and developed a complete set of solutions.
Reporters learned that in the March 13 Yahoo China internal meeting and subsequent emails to all employees, Zeng Ming first clarified Yahoo China's new strategy and direction, and revealed some content of the Domino plan.
Zeng Ming said Yahoo China should fully integrate traditional mainstream information, search and community services to achieve personalized customization and distribution. Yahoo search strives to greatly improve intelligence and humanization through the Domino Project, form differentiated services and brand images, and strive to achieve substantial growth in its own traffic, brand and market share.
Yahoo said that since the end of 2006, Yahoo China has made a series of impressive moves: quickly stabilize the organizational structure, start large-scale recruitment of search talents, sort out Yahoo China's original services and content resources, and deploy vertical search and interactive communities.
Zeng Ming said, "in the next five to ten years, China's Internet market will break through the inflection point and achieve breakthrough growth. The core of growth will be the network service platform centered on individual consumers ."
Yahoo insiders said rumors about layoffs are false. Not only does Yahoo not have large-scale layoffs, but Yahoo is also introducing talent from multiple parties. Yahoo China currently has nearly 500 employees.
For Yahoo China, which has become a second-line website, Zeng Ming issued a military order to Jack Ma: "In 2007, Yahoo will accelerate its response to the market and further integrate the advantages of Taobao, Alipay, and Alibaba in e-commerce resources, using three years to build Yahoo! into the top three internet companies in China."
