First, you need to understand the three link modes under the virtual machine:
Select Network Connection Properties |
Meaning |
Use bridged networking (using a bridge network) |
Use (connection) vmnet0 vswitch. In this case, the virtual machine is equivalent to an independent computer on the network and has an independent IP address like the host, as shown in Figure 2-56. |
Use Network Address Translation (NAT) (using NAT Network) |
Use (connection) vmnet8 vswitch. In this case, the virtual machine can access other workstations on the network (including Internet networks) through the host. Other workstations cannot access the virtual machine, as shown in Figure 2-57. |
Use host-only networking (using the host network) |
Use (connection) vmnet1 vswitch. At this time, the virtual machine can only interconnect with the Virtual Machine and host, and cannot access other workstations on the network, as shown in 2-58 |
Do not use a network connection |
The virtual machine does not have a nic, which is equivalent to a "standalone" |
1: use NAT to access the Internet through the address of the shared host and set an IP address for the virtual machine. To enable the connection between the host and the virtual machine, you must set the IP address of VMware network adapter vmnet8 to the IP address of the virtual machine in the same network segment. After the IP address is set, the host and the virtual machine can be connected.
2: when the bridge method is used for Internet access, the virtual machine will automatically obtain an independent IP address through DHCP for Internet access.
In addition, the win7 wireless route displays the yellow exclamation point "no Internet access permission:
Check whether the IP address is set for the local connection in the network connection. If the IP address is set to the automatic retrieval mode.
