1. Prevent websites from consuming too many memory resources

When you use iis6.0 to manage a website, you will often encounter a situation where the memory usage of the system usually reaches about 90% after the website runs for a period of time. In this case, when you continue to visit the website, it will obviously feel that the website page is too slow to open. In order to effectively avoid this phenomenon, we can skillfully apply iis6.0ProgramPool to regularly recycle idle processes, and effectively limit the maximum memory available for the website to ensure that the server can always run stably. The procedure is as follows:

Click Start, set, and control panel commands. In the control panel window that appears, double-click the Management Tools icon, double-click "Internet Information Service Manager" to open the console window of iis6.0;

Expand the "application pool" option under the Local Computer, right-click "defaultapppool" under the option, and then right-click the "attribute" command in the menu, on the property settings page that appears, click "recycle" To Go To The tag page shown in 1. Select the "recycle Worker Process (minutes)" option on the page, and enter the appropriate value in the text box on the right of the option, to specify how long it will not be active;

Because the recycling process also consumes a certain amount of system resources, we can also select the "recycling process at the following time" option to avoid Website access peaks, click "add" to add an appropriate recycle time. For example, we can set the recycle time to around midnight one o'clock;

Next, in the "memory Recycle" setting, we can select the "maximum memory used" option and enter the appropriate value in the text box on the right of the option, to limit the maximum amount of system memory that a website can use.

After completing the preceding settings, expand the "website" project in the iis6.0 Console window, right-click the name of the target website, and then run the "properties" command in the right-click menu, click the "home directory" tab in the pop-up website Properties window, and check whether the application pool in Figure 2 is set to "defaultapppool ", if not, you must adjust it. If other websites exist on the server, set the application pool of other websites to "defaultapppool" and click "OK, in this way, the website can be prevented from consuming too many memory resources.

2. Back up website configuration information

Backing up website configuration information is not a new topic. However, in earlier versions of IIS, when backing up website configuration information, you only need to simply execute the "backup" command. However, in the iis6.0 manager, the operations for backing up website configuration information are somewhat different, in addition, the new version of IIS allows the website administrator to encrypt and back up the configuration information to avoid the spread of privacy configuration information at will. The following describes how to back up website configuration information in iis6.0 Manager:

Click Start, set, and control panel commands. In the control panel window that appears, double-click the Management Tools icon, double-click "Internet Information Service Manager" to open the console window of iis6.0;

Expand the "website" option under the Local Computer, right-click the target website name under the option, click "all tasks"/"Save configuration to a file" from the shortcut menu to go to the "Save website configuration information" dialog box shown in 3. In the "file name" Area of the dialog box, enter the appropriate backup file name and set the path for saving all the backup files in the "path" area. To ensure that the configuration information is not randomly viewed by others, we recommend that you select a folder that has been restricted by setting strict access control permissions, after all, any file created in such a folder inherits the access control list.

In addition, to further improve the security of website configuration information, we can also select the "encrypt configuration with password" option in figure 3, in the "password" text box and "Confirm Password" text box, enter a strong password, and click "OK, in this way, the configuration information of the target website will be automatically saved to a specified file.
3. The Website Cannot display subpages correctly.

Many people have installed and configured the website using the iis6.0 manager and tried to access the website page using IE. They often find that the home page of the target website can be displayed normally, however, the content of the subpage cannot be displayed normally. Why? In fact, this phenomenon is only easy to appear in the iis6.0 manager. You can use the following methods to eliminate this phenomenon:

Click Start, set, and control panel commands. In the control panel window that appears, double-click the Management Tools icon, double-click "Internet Information Service Manager" to open the console window of iis6.0;

Expand the "website" option under the Local Computer, right-click the target website name under the option, and run the "properties" command from the shortcut menu, click the "home directory" tab on the website properties page, and then click the "configuration" button on the corresponding tab page to open the system application configuration window;

Click the "options" tab in the window, select the "enable parent path" option on the tab page shown in 4, and click "OK, in this way, the website will disappear if it cannot display subpages.

4. Correctly display the aspx website page

A friend downloaded An ASPX website program from the Internet. With the help of the author, he decompressed the program to a server installed with the Windows 2003 operating system, then, a new site is created in the iis6.0 manager and the Home Directory of the site is directed to the directory where the aspx website program is located. However, when I access this website, the IE browser displays a message of internal server error. I carefully checked the various configurations in iis6.0 and did not find any errors. What is the problem?

In fact, this is caused by the high security of Windows 2003 by default, because the Windows 2003 Server System does not enable the access permission for the ASPX page by default, this requires us to manually enable the function. The steps below are as follows:

Click Start, set, and control panel commands. In the control panel window that appears, double-click the Management Tools icon, double-click "Internet Information Service Manager" to open the console window of iis6.0;

Expand the "Web Service extension" option under the Local Computer with the mouse to go to the option settings page shown in 5. Check the "ASP. net v1.1.4322 "or" ASP. net v2.0.50727 "indicates whether the running status is allowed. If yes, you must select it with the mouse and click" allow "to enable access to the ASPX page. If you do not see the "ASP. net v1.1.4322 "or" ASP. net v2.0.50727 "indicates that the Windows 2003 system does not support ASP.. net service. In this case, click "start"/"run", and then directly enter the "X: \ windows \ Microsoft. net \ framework \ v1.1.4322 \ aspnet_regiis.exe-I "(X is the disk partition symbol of the Windows operating system), click the Enter key, we can see "ASP. net v1.1.4322.
