Outlook 2010 prompts 0x8004010f for error resolution

When you try to send or receive an Outlook 2010 e-mail message, you may receive one of the following error messages:
0x8004010f: The Outlook data file cannot be accessed.

Or
0x8004010f: Operation failed. The object was not found.
Operation Steps:

The reason for this is that error 0x8004010f may occur when the Outlook 2010 profile is incorrectly configured.

To resolve the error 0x8004010f, confirm the current location of the default Outlook data file, and then create a new Outlook profile. To do this, follow these steps:

Step One

Locate the default Outlook data file

1. Click "Start";

then click Control Panel.

2. In Control Panel, click Mail.

3. In the Mail Setup--outlook dialog box, click Show Profiles.

4. Select your current Outlook profile, and then click Properties.

5. In the Mail Settings-Outlook dialog box, click Data Files.

6. In the Account Settings dialog box, select the Data Files tab, and then note the name and location of the default data file for the configuration file (a check mark appears next to the default data file).

7. Click "Close".

Step Two: Create a new Outlook profile

Now that you know the name and location of the default data file for the configuration file, only do one of the following to create a new Outlook profile:

Method 1: Use automatic account settings to create an IMAP or POP3 e-mail account.

Important If your e-mail server supports IMAP and POP3, automatic account settings will create IMAP accounts by default. To create a POP3 account, you need to perform manual steps. However, if your e-mail server only supports POP3, the automatic account setting creates the POP3 account.

1. Click "Start";

then click Control Panel.

2. In the Mail Settings-Outlook dialog box, click Show Profiles.

3. On the General tab of the Mail dialog box, click Add.

4. In the New Configuration file dialog box, type a name for the new profile, and then click OK.

5. In the Add New Account dialog box, type your account information, and then click Next.

6. After the account has been successfully configured, click Finish.

Method 2: Manually create an IMAP or POP3 e-mail account.

1. Click "Start";

then click Control Panel.

2. In the Mail Settings---Outlook dialog box, click Show Profiles.

3. On the General tab of the Mail dialog box, click Add;

4. In the New Configuration file dialog box, type a name for the new profile, and then click OK.

5. In the Add New Account dialog box, select manually configure server settings or other server types, and then click Next.

6. In the Select Service dialog box, select Internet e-mail, and then click Next.

7. In the Internet e-Mail Settings dialog box, type your account details.

8. Click Test Account settings to test your account.
Note If you cannot determine the correct account details, contact your Internet service provider.

9. Select existing Outlook data file, and then click Browse.

10. In the Open Outlook Data File dialog box, browse to and select your previously saved Outlook data file. Click OK.

11. Click "Next".

12. In the Test Account Settings dialog box, click Close.

13. Click Finish.

Step Three: Configure the new Outlook profile as the default profile

If you want the new Outlook profile to be set as the default profile, follow these steps:

1. On the General tab of the Mail dialog box, click Always use this profile.

2. Click the Drop-down list under always use this profile, and then select the new configuration file.

3. Click OK to close the Mail dialog box.
