Remote Storage and its use
In the network widely popular today, Remote Storage is already not experts or masters can use the patent. Broadly speaking, the downloading and uploading of email, network hard disk, Web pages, program files are typical examples of remote storage. However, because of the different nature and environment of the work, especially the different management methods, the remote Storage described in this paper is not generalized. It has the following specific meanings:
The Win2000 series of operating systems can support remote Storage, which is essentially a way to extend the remote available disk space to local disk space. Specifically, users always place frequently accessed data or files on a volume or a specific location on the local computer to minimize access time to the data file. When you implement Remote Storage, you must have the support of the operating system to achieve maximum productivity. Of course, this is not a strict technical discussion, but a more intuitive expression. To describe the convenience, we will be responsible for remote Storage operating system part of the function, take a dedicated name is called: Remote Storage.
Remote storage can automatically copy the eligible data files to the local computer's storage media and set up the appropriate volumes for management. Remote storage then monitors the available disk space on the local computer (the volume that is established) at all times. If the local free disk space is lowered to the minimum required to run, Remote Storage will automatically move the files in the volume to some of the remote disks, freeing up space to meet the needs of the local computer. Conversely, if the data to be accessed by the local computer is remote, Remote Storage is also responsible for transferring the data from the remote to the local area. All of this is incorporated into the operating system's management scope.
It can be seen that in practical applications, this two-way transmission consumes many of the local computer's system resources and reduces the speed of the local computer. To reduce this consumption, the remote of the network, there is a dedicated server, dedicated to storage System management. This server supports a variety of storage media, such as: hard disk, tape drive, and so on, a large amount of data and low speed requirements of access to the general use of tape drive, which can reduce storage costs, if the requirements of the high speed, of course, to use hard disk equipment. You can also divide the two different levels of media, depending on the file data to receive access to the level or frequency, the tape drive on the temporary storage of data on the hard disk to facilitate the increase speed, you can also save the hard disk on the data on the tape to expand the free space on the hard disk. Either way, external access can be accepted by the server and then the server finds the corresponding content. It's like we're on a VCD on a song.
In the broad sense of remote storage, different functions require the corresponding service procedures, such as our established personal homepage, to use FTP upload can be used, send and receive e-mail must use the mail program such as Outlook and so on. and Remote Storage is a Win 2000 system already exists in the function, no longer need to use other management procedures.
Remote Storage diagnostics (Rsdiag.exe)
There is also a command line based diagnostic tool Rsdiag.exe for remote Storage capabilities built on the Win2000 system. With this tool, you can make diagnostic queries, as well as perform functions such as canceling a job. Its complete syntax is as follows:
Rsdiag [/C JobName] [/D filetype Fullpath&filename] [/e errorcode] [i] [/j [JobName]] [/m] [/R [F]] [/s] [/t] [/s] [/t] [/V [d] Riveletter]] [/x queuedrecall] [/w fullpath&filename]
Rsdiag is the name of the command, needless to say. followed by many parameters, the implementation of different functions, the parameters used are different. The parameters and meanings are described below, which is what we need to master:
/C JobName
Cancels the specified job with/C, JobName is the name of the job to be canceled. As for how to get the name of the job, please refer to the appropriate description below.
/d filetype Fullpath&filename
Role: To transform the database diagnostic information into a text file, Remote Storage server in the management of data files, the use of database technology.
FileType: Specifies the type of source file to be exported to text format, which must be one of the following:
E Database Engine
F File System proxy database
A file System Agent collection
N Engine Collection
s subsystem set
Fullpath&filename: Must be the full path name and full file name of the text file.
/e ErrorCode
Displays an error code that errorcode can represent an error message in decimal or hexadecimal code.
/I
Displays the version information for the file.
/j [JobName]
If no job is specified, all job information, including the name of the job, is displayed. With this, you can use this argument to view when you want to cancel a job without knowing whether the job is in progress. If the job name is specified after the parameter, all information about the job is displayed. [JobName] is the job name.
/m
Displays the volume that meets the processing criteria.
/R [/F]
Displays information that is located within the current retrieval queue within the remote server retrieval queue, displaying information that lists each retrieved file name and logical order. If you use the [/f] option, you can also display extended information about the results of the retrieval, including file status, as well as the initial retrieved values and the offset information on the storage media for the file.
/s
Displays physical information about the storage media.
/t
Reload (for retrieved) trajectory file, which must read the registration settings information in the trace file for all Access service processes.
/V [DriveLetter]
This is an external parameter that displays volume information.
If you use additional parameter driveletter, you can display extended information for the specified volume.
/x Queuedrecall
In the retrieval queue of the Remote Storage server, the specified retrieval job is canceled and the/R switch lets you list the retrieval.
/w Fullpath&filename
Displays the name of the storage media that contains the specified file, which refers to the physical media name, and must provide the full path to the file and the detailed file name in the parameter.
