Many organizations may face low-configuration machine Internet access problems when establishing an NT network. These machines include 386 and low-end 486 systems, which obviously cannot be properly installed and run Windows 95 operating systems. In this case, using the DOS operating system to log on to the NT Server is an option. The implementation method is described here.

1. Make DOS terminal installation disk can use NTS4.0 provided by LAN Manager and Microsoft Network Client V3.0 for MS-DOS and Windows two Network customer software, to achieve DOS workstation login NT server. This section only describes how to use the latter.

First, prepare two blank disks and put the NTS4.0 installation disc into the optical drive. Then run "Start/Program/management tool (public)/Network Customer Manager" on the NT server ", click "Create and Install Disk group" in the "Network Customer Manager" window shown in Figure 1. 2. Install and set the DOS Workstation. When the NIC works properly, perform the following settings: run SETUP in the created installation floppy disk (DISK1. If no option is available in the list or the Network adapter type cannot be confirmed, you can select "* Network adapter not shown on list below... "Manually add the driver that comes with the NIC. Enter the path of the NIC Driver (generally "A: \ LANSRVR \ DOS") as prompted. The system displays the NIC type and automatically installs the corresponding driver from the floppy disk; after adding the NIC Driver, select "Add Protocol", select the correct Protocol (required for NetBEUI) on the network Protocol installation page, and return after confirmation. After completing the preceding settings step by step, the system starts to copy the nt dos client program from the disk.
