Did anyone ever set up an FTP server with their own hands? It is common for people to set up FTP servers to consider Microsoft's IIS settings cumbersome, followed by poor security. So here is the process of using powerful serv-u to build an FTP server. Serv-u is a very useful FTP server tool, although the size of small but most of the Web site is using the program, and is a shareware, can be downloaded to the Software class site. When the serv-u runs, the Setup wizard window appears, and using the Setup Wizard makes the entire setup process very simple.
1.Install as System server (installed as a system): Select Yes.
2.Allow Anonymous access (accept anonymous logins): Here you can choose according to your needs.
3.Anonymous Home Directory (anonymous home directories): Here you can enter (or select) a primary directory for anonymous users to log in.
4.Lock anonymous users in to their home directory (lock the user in the primary directory you just selected): That is, whether the home directory in the previous step is set as the user's root directory, and "Yes" is generally selected.
5.Create named account (set up other accounts): Here, ask if you want to establish a normal login user account, generally choose "Yes".
6.Account Login name (user login): Ordinary user account name, such as "Anonymous".
7.Password (password): set password. Because the password you entered is displayed in clear text, you only lose one time.
8.Home directory (home directory): Enter (or select) the home directory for this user.
9.Lock anonymous users in to their home directory (lock users in the main directory): Select Yes.
10.Account Admin Privilege (account management privileges): Generally use its default value "No privilege" (Ordinary account).
11. The final selection of "Finish" (end) to complete the setup.
Local server (localhost) properties
1.Local Server (local server): Here you can set whether to automatically open the FTP service and manually open or stop the FTP service.
2.License (license): Security License.
3.Settings (SET): General/max.speed: For setting the maximum transfer rate (KB/S). General/max.no.of users: Lets you set the maximum number of users connected to this server. Other items are related to keeping the server safe.
4.Activity (Active): Users (Users): Display the current logged-in User IP address information and current working status, it is recommended to select "Auto Reload" (automatic refresh). If you select a user, right-click, and then select Kill user to Kick It out of the server. Blocked IPs (blocked IP): This is used to temporarily prohibit certain IP access to the system. Click "+" on the toolbar to increase the number of IP addresses that are temporarily banned and the total time to prevent logons (calculated from the increase). The list can see the banned IP address and its corresponding computer's full domain name and the release of the number of time (in seconds) and so on. Right-click in the list to choose to delete the banned IP address.
Session log (System log): Logs all logged in (or attempting to log in) to the local operation traces and error messages.
