According to foreign reports, Fujitsu March 13 at the Hannover CeBIT Fair released a 4 dual-CPU "blade" built "super" 8-way blade server, it uses the Hao long processor.
The blade will be marketed in April or May, using AMD's newest 2.6GHZ dual-core Hao Dragon processor, according to McMark, senior vice president of Fujitsu Computer Systems Inc. in California, the Fujitsu subsidiary.
Given that AMD's Hao Dragon is already two core processors, Fujitsu's 8-way "blade" is also high on the x86 platform. IBM currently sells a x460 server using 32 Xeon processors, and Sun plans to launch 8-way Hao's servers during the year, while HP and Dell currently have only 4 servers.
This blade server can run Microsoft Windows, Red Hat and Novell Linux, which is especially good for running data-intensive applications such as ERP. In addition, if you are using VMware virtualization software, this blade server can displace several small servers.
It is reported that Fujitsu 8-way server price of 35,500 U.S. dollars, 4-way "blade" is 10,000 U.S. dollars. Fujitsu also provides hardware and software for connecting multiple dual servers to a "super blade" with a price of $2600 per set.
