Meaning of each layer (Source: jq_lin)

A. Signal layer (signal layers): The signal layer includes top layer, bottom layer, and mid layer 1 ...... 30. These layers are all layers with electrical connections, that is, the actual copper layer. The middle layer refers to the Middle board layer Used for cabling, where wires are laid.
B. inner layer (internal plane): internal plane 1 ...... 16. These layers are generally connected to the ground and power supply, and become the power supply layer and formation. They also have electrical connection and are also the actual copper layer, but the layer is generally not cabled, is composed of the whole copper film.
C. silkscreen overlay: includes the top screen overlay and the bottom screen overlay ). Defines the top-layer and bottom-layer silk screen characters, which are some text symbols printed on the solder mask, such as component names, component symbols, component pins, and copyrights, facilitate future Circuit Welding and troubleshooting.
D. paste mask (top paste): includes top paste and bottom paste. It refers to the surface of the exposed Solder Pad, that is, the part that needs to be coated with solder paste before welding. Therefore, this layer is also useful in hot air consolidation and welding steel mesh production on the pad.
E. solder Mask (Solder Mask): includes top-layer Solder Mask (top solder) and bottom-layer Solder Mask (bottom solder). Its role is opposite to that of the solder paste layer, which refers to the layer to be covered with green oil. This layer does not stick soldering tin to prevent redundant Soldering Tin short circuits at adjacent welding points during welding. The solder mask covers the copper film wires to prevent the copper film from being oxidized in the air too quickly. However, it leaves a position at the solder joints and does not cover the solder joints.
F. Mechanical layers: a maximum of 16 layers of machining layers can be selected. To design a dual-panel, you only need to use the default option mechanical Layer 1.
G. Keep out layer: defines the border of the wiring layer. After a prohibited cabling layer is defined, wiring with electrical characteristics cannot go beyond the boundaries of the prohibited cabling layer in the future.

Mechanical layer, as its name implies, is a mechanical layer. It emphasizes "mechanical", that is, it does not have electrical properties, so it can be safely used to sketch the shape, sketch the mechanical size, place the text, and so on, without worrying about any changes to the electrical properties of the Board.
The function of the mechanical layer can be defined according to your own needs. The following is the definition of the mechanical layer that individuals prefer to use:
Mech1: A mechanical layer is used to draw the border of a circuit board, as well as a large internal hollow-out or special-shaped boring hole.
