Gas flow and mass flow rate conversion

The volume of gas multiplied by the pressure is called the amount of gas, and the amount of gas flowing through a given section is called flow.

Flow Q=d (PV)/dt, where p is the pressure, V is volume, T is time.

The gas mass flowing through a section of a pipe per unit time is called mass flow rate.

According to the ideal gas state equation:

Pv=mrt/m (m for gas mass, m for gas molar mass, R for molar gas constant, with a value of 8.3144621[j/(MOL*K)])

When the gas species must be (i.e. m certain) and the temperature T is definite, the time derivative is obtained:

D (PV)/dt=rt/m* (DM/DT),

i.e. Flow q=rt/m* (DM/DT),

DM/DT is the mass flow rate.

Therefore, the flow rate can be converted to mass flow based on the above formula.
