Operating environment: FreeBSD 3.4-release, the same dimension 56K external modem
First, set/etc/ppp/ppp.conf
#vi/etc/ppp/ppp.conf
If the modem company COM1 Port is set to:
Default
Set DEVICE/DEV/CUAA0 (other can be invariant)
.....
If the modem company COM2 Port is set to:
Default
Set DEVICE/DEV/CUAA1 (other can be invariant)
.....
Second, run PPP into the term mode:
#ppp
Appear:
Working in interactive mode
Using Interface:tun0
PPP on myhostname> type term
Appear:
Deflink:entering Terminal mode on/dev/tuaa0
Type ' ~? ' for help
The modem can be set up, now type ~? Several useful commands are available:
~p into package mode (exit term mode)
~t Display Timer
~m Display Memory graph
~. Exit term mode
~? Help
General at command used in modem:
(1) at&f Restore factory settings
(2) ATZ0 soft reset
(3) AT&V Display configuration table
(4) At&w Save and write configuration table
(5) ATDT163 dialing number 163
(6) at&z0=163 save phone number 163 to first storage location
at&z1=163 Save phone number 163 to second storage location
at&z2=163 Save phone number 163 to third storage location
at&z3=163 Save phone number 163 to fourth storage location
(7) Atds 0 dialing number of the first position
Atds 1 Dialing The number of the second position
Atds 2 dialing number three.
Atds 3 Dialing number fourth position.
(8) At&s0=0 No self-transport response
At&s0=n (1-255) ringing the modem and answering automatically (this is an option to set up the dialing server)
(9) ATM0 Turn off speaker sound
Turn off speakers when ATM1 is receiving carrier
ATM2 speaker has been in the open state
ATM3 is receiving a carrier and modem closing the speaker sound while dialing
(a) Ar&c0 keep DCD on when no carrier is received
AT&C1 when the carrier of the other modem is received, DCD is placed on state
(one) at&d0 ignores changes in DTR (Digital Terminal Ready)
At&d1 when the DTR from high to low, the modem returns the command state from the data state
At&d2 when the DTR becomes low, hang up and return to the command state
At&d3 when the DTR is low, reset the modem
() ATL1 the speaker volume to bass
ATL2 the speaker volume to alto
ATL3 the speaker volume to treble
(at&k0) Dte/dce flow control is not allowed
At&k3 allow Dte/dce rts/cts flow control
At&k4 allow Xon/xoff dte/dce flow control
At&k5 allow transparent Xon/xoff flow control
AT&K6 allows simultaneous control of rts/cts and Xon/xoff streams
