Microsoft Office 2007 feels the most to me in addition to the UI revolution, the speed of the upgrade, Word, Excel, and so on faster than the previous version has a great improvement, this is a gorgeous interface with the software is very difficult to do.
But the speed of Outlook is very slow, each boot has to go through several times of suspended animation (loss of response), and after the startup is very consuming resources.
After looking, I found some settings to improve this situation.
Create a Personal Folders file
A Personal Folders file (. pst) is a data file that holds a user's personal mail, tasks, calendars, etc., which is stored on the user's computer, not the server, and Outlook does not load the contents of the personal folder when it starts, so it can be speeded up.
File > New > Outlook Data File, select the location where the. pst file is stored.
A new personal folder appears in messages in the Navigation Pane, where we can create folders, move messages here, or configure Outlook to automatically deliver new items to a Personal Folders file.
To disable an add-in
Add-ins are plug-ins that can speed up Outlook startup and resource consumption by disabling unnecessary add-ons.
Tools > Trust Center > Add-ins, select the COM add-in in the Drop-down list to the right of administration, click Go, and remove unnecessary add-ons.
Uninstall Fax Service
Uninstall the Fax Service for Windows.
Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > Add or Remove Windows Components and uncheck the Fax service.
After you restart Outlook after the above settings, you will feel a noticeable increase in startup and response speed, and the author's personal situation is that the memory footprint is reduced to half the previous one.
