First, the early recognition of Ubuntu

Ubuntu (Bantu) is a desktop-based Linux operating system that differs from Debian in that it publishes a new version every 6 months, depending on the Debian distribution and the GNOME desktop environment. The goal of Ubuntu is to provide an up-to-date, yet fairly stable, operating system built primarily of free software for the average user. Ubuntu has a huge community power that makes it easy for users to get help from the community. For me, the most attractive is Ubuntu open source, very conducive to programming learning, and Ubuntu small size, running relatively fast, multiple programs at the same time and independent operation is more convenient.

Second, install Ubuntu system (Windows8+ubuntu)

First, configuring Ubuntu under Windows needs to do some preparatory work. The first step is to download the Ubuntu image (64-bit or 32-bit) and then unpack the ISO file with the appropriate tools such as UltraISO. Second, the Ubuntu system should be allocated storage space. Here I divide the space for 60GB. Since I am installing windows8.1 and Ubuntu 14.04 systems on a laptop, it is better to remove some disk space under Windows to leave Ubuntu. If you are a win7 or Win8 Pro user, you can get free space by right-clicking on the selected disk by using the Disk Management, Storage-managed disks, and then, for other users, you can use partitioning tools such as partition assistants to get free space. First of all, for the partition of the disk used in Ubuntu, my scheme is relatively simple: start partition /boot partition (200M) First, swap space swap partition (2GB), tmp partition (2GB), root partition/(30G), the rest of the home partition for file storage. Of course there may be a better partitioning scheme, and I'm just slacking off to solve this problem.

Then, consider how to install the Ubuntu system. First restart the computer to enter the BIOS Setup boot order (find the Startup option modified, set USB priority to boot), or restart directly by F12 (or other FN) or enter settings (different motherboard entry method may be different). Then, I recommend two methods that are available. First, you can directly double-click the Ubuntu image under the Wubi.exe file, follow the prompts to select Restart, you can enter the Ubuntu installation interface. The second option is to use a bootable USB flash drive. This can also be achieved in a variety of ways, either by downloading a launcher or by using the command line directly to create a bootable USB flash drive.

Finally, you can install the Ubuntu system by entering the Ubuntu installation screen.

Note that if you choose to install third-party software, the installation process takes a long time, if the network speed is slow, it is recommended not to install, you can install the system when using the system prompts to install. The speed of the Internet is a matter of other things.

Note that this step must be seen clearly, otherwise it is easy to format the entire disk.

Boot equipment I chose to build their own/boot, here should also be carefully checked, must not be selected as a Windows NTFS disk. (The image is an excerpt from the Internet, so it is not in accordance with the actual, only for reference study)

Here you can set up an administrator account, it is recommended to be patient once set up OK

Once the installation is complete, restart the computer and it's OK!

Third, enhance the function of Ubuntu and interface experience

For programming learning users, you can install some software, such as Python3.4,jdk,g++,vim, etc.

Ubuntu is not very friendly to Chinese. can choose to use Sogou Input method (can be downloaded to the official website, as prompted to install), or Googlepinyin

Here are some of the information I found on the internet, some of my own installation configuration for Ubuntu (for reference only):

my own Ubuntu Configuration

1. Install common system software

Install Flash plugin (on video site prerequisites)

sudoapt-get install flashplugin-installer

Install Nautilus extension (right click, open with terminal )

sudoapt-get install nautilus-open-terminal

Each time you download the Deb package, it's too slow to install with the Software Center, and Gdebi is enough.

1

sudoapt-get install gdebi

Vim

sudoapt-get install vim

Python

Ubuntu12.04is installed by default in thePython2.7.3, first install it by using the following commandPip,Pipis aPythona tool for installing and managing an extension library.

Sudoapt-get Install Python-pip

installation Python development environment, easy to compile other extension libraries in the future, Occupy space 92.8M :

Sudoapt-get Install Python-dev

GTK file requires

Sudoapt-get Install Python-vte

2. Chinese Input Method

Use IBUs , configure the Install Chinese (you can use FCITX Framework Input method, but it is useless considering compatibility and system optimization

To install the phonetic engine:

in the terminal input :

Sudoapt-get Install Ibus-pinyin

Set Ibus-pinyin , in the terminal input : (with Chinese input method is not good for use)

/usr/lib/ibus-pinyin/ibus-setup-pinyin

installation Sunpinyin module, in terminal input : (Similar settings Googlepinyin, Google Input method, cloud input it? )

Sudoapt-get Install Ibus-sunpinyin

Set Ibus-sunpinyin , in the terminal input :

/usr/lib/ibus-sunpinyin/ibus-setup-sunpinyin

3. Other software

sudo apt-get install nautilus-dropbox # dropbox

Also recommended cloud Connaught yunio , with dropbox similar, free account has 5g+ (space rewards can be obtained in various ways), and supports win/linux/macos/android/ios , very good for force. Install yunio Need to download deb Package, Then use gdebi Installation can be done.
