The first word sinking effect often appears in the newspaper and magazine, the article or chapter begins the first word font size is obviously big and sinks several lines, very can play the role which attracts the eyeball. To set this effect, you can do so by following these steps:
1. Place the insertion point anywhere in the paragraph where you want to create a drop cap.
2. Perform "format" → "drop cap" to open the drop Cap dialog box.
3. Under the Position bar, select drop or Hang. When a paragraph does not set indents, the first word that sinks will occupy the left margin. Select None to cancel the drop cap.
4. In the Font drop-down menu, select the font for the dropped first word.
5. In the number of rows to sink box, set the number of rows to occupy.
6. In the According to text box, set the distance from the text of the first word.
7. Click "OK"
Tips:
1. After establishing the first word sinking, the first word will be surrounded by a frame, click the frame border, drag the handle can adjust its size, the text inside will also change size.
2. Type the new text in the frame, the frame can expand automatically.
3. After you set the drop cap, a frame command is added to the Format menu, and click to make other settings for the frame.
