When it comes to virtualization, VMware is a gateway to the past, although it has a preference for open source software, but it still has more to do with VMware. As a result, the first VMware experiment was done today to install VMware vSphere Hypervisor 6.0.
First download the latest trial version of the installation image and client, the official website address:
http://www.vmware.com/
Pre-download requires advanced line registration, if you have an account directly login, select the "Download" Inside, find "VMware vsphere Hypervisor (ESXi)", which has the latest version of VMware vsphere Hypervisor 6.0 image and Vmware-viclient client download. Also, if you do not have VMware Workstation installed on your lab machine, you also download "Workstation Pro" in "downloads" on the official website. The files I downloaded are as follows:
Vmware-workstation-full-12.1.1-3770994.exe
Vmware-vmvisor-installer-6.0.0.update02-3620759.x86_64.iso
Vmware-viclient-all-6.0.0-3562874.exe
Lab Environment:
ThinkPad t430i 4-core 10G operating system is WIN10 64bit
Installation process:
First install the above workstation, the installation is completed quickly when prompted to enter a license, on the Internet to find a:
5a02h-au243-tzj49-gtc7k-3c61n
Then mount the Vmware-vmvisor-installer-6.0.0.update02-3620759.x86_64.iso image file on the workstation to install it, basically select the default option, This installation process I refer to the following man's blog:
http://wangchunhai.blog.51cto.com/225186/1607160
After installing VMware VSphere Hypervisor, and then installing the Vmware-viclient client directly, the installation file is the 3rd downloaded file. After the installation is complete, ESXi can be managed through this client-side tool, as described in the link above. The man's blog.
This time to create ESXi is installed by default installed, memory 4G, originally wanted to try to install Vcenter Server, but Windows R2 virtual machine needs 8GB memory, so did not complete the test.
