Getting Started with Word animation tutorial 87: Inserting an Excel worksheet

Use Insert object to insert many of the file types installed in your system, such as Adobe Photoshop Image, midi sequences, media clips, video clips, and more. Where you can insert an Excel worksheet for a wider purpose, let's take it as an example to learn how to insert an object.

A new Excel Worksheet object

1. Place the cursor in the document where you want to insert the object.

2. Perform "insert" → "object" to open the Object dialog box.

3. Select Microsoft Excel worksheet in the Object Type list box on the new tab.

4. Click OK to embed an Excel worksheet in the document where you can handle complex data directly. Click elsewhere in the document, and the worksheet will be converted to a picture form.

Note: If the Show as Icon check box is selected in step 2nd, an Excel icon will be inserted into the document, and an Excel worksheet named "Worksheet in Xxx.doc" is started.

Create an Excel Worksheet object from a file

1. Place the cursor in the document where you want to insert the object.

2. Open the Object dialog box and switch to the Create by File tab.

3. Click the browse button, locate and select the object you want to insert in the Browse dialog box, click the Insert button, and return to the File Creation tab, the path to the selected file appears automatically in the File name box.

4. If you select the link to file item, the data in the Word document can be synchronized with the source worksheet to update the data (the query box will appear when you reopen the Word document), or if you do not, the worksheet will be embedded in the document with a static copy.

5. Click OK to insert the worksheet as a picture in the Word document. To modify the data, just double-click the picture, and the system calls excel in the document (when the worksheet is embedded) or directly to the Open source worksheet (when linking to the worksheet).
