By default, Word automatically counts the rows in the document (except for rows in tables, footnotes, endnotes, text boxes, frames, headers, and footers), and you can display the travel number on the left side of the line of text, including blank lines.
First, add line number
1. On the File menu, click Page Setup, and then switch to the Layout tab. 2. In the Apply to box, click Forward Document.
3. Click the Line Number button, and in the Line Number dialog box, select the Add line number check box, 4. Select the options you want. That is, the line number is added to the left of the document.
In addition, you can add line numbers to a section or selected text in a similar way.
Cancel the line number of some paragraphs
If you do not need to number paragraphs, you can skip these paragraphs and continue numbering the following lines.
1. Select one or more paragraphs for which you want to cancel the line number.
2. Select the menu command "format" → "paragraph" To open the Paragraph dialog box.
3. Switch to the newline and Paging tab.
4. Select the "Cancel line number" Item and click "OK" button.
Tips:
1. To view line numbers, switch to print layout view.
2. By default, the added line number is the Black Arial 5th Word, if you change the font size or color of the line number, open the Page Setup dialog box, click the Font Settings button on the Document Grid tab, and then make the font settings for the line number in the Font dialog box.
