Using Word's cropping feature, you can hide unwanted portions of your picture.

Method One: Drag the mouse to crop

1. Select the picture you want to crop.

2. Click the Crop button on the Picture toolbar to change the mouse pointer to a unique "double Shi" shape.

3. Move the pointer over the picture handle, drag inside the picture, hide parts of the picture, drag outside the picture, enlarge the blank area around the picture, and then drag the left arrow when you are dragged to the appropriate location.

Tip: Hold down the CTRL key, drag the center handle on either side, and equally crop both sides at the same time, hold down the CTRL key and drag the corner handle inward to cut the edges equally.

4. Click the Crop button to close the Crop command.

Method Two: Use the dialog box to crop the picture

1. Select the picture you want to crop.

2. Open the Picture tab of the Format Picture dialog box.

3. In the Crop box, set the values that are cropped from the top, bottom, left, and right directions of the picture.

4. Click the OK button.

Attention:

1. The clipped part of the picture is not actually cut, just hidden. Click the Crop button again to drag the picture's control point back to its original location to restore the picture. You can also restore a picture by clicking the Reset Picture button on the Picture toolbar.

2. For animated GIF pictures, you cannot use the above method for the crop operation.
