Getting Started with Word animation tutorial 123: Customizing a multilevel symbol list

In many cases, the default multilevel symbol style does not meet our requirements, although you can define a number or symbol, but frequently, it is annoying. So the best thing to do is to customize an optional multilevel symbol list style, ready to call. The following steps are specific:

1. Position the insertion point where you want to add a list of multilevel symbols.

2. Execute "format" → "Bullets and Numbering" → "Multilevel symbols" tab.

3. Select a style that is closest to the one you want, click the Customize button, open the Custom Outline Numbered List dialog box, and click the Advanced button to display more settings.

4. In the dialog box, there are mainly the following items:

Level: A total of 9 levels, can generate up to 9 levels of multi-level list.

Previous level number: If you want to include a previous level number in a numbering scheme, you can select the number level to include in this list.

Link level to style: Specifies the style applied at the current level. Two scenarios are specifically demonstrated in the animation.

After number: You can select how the number is separated from the text, and if you select No special callout, the number and text will be contiguous.

"Numbered as normal": Select this option, the multilevel list can only be Arabic numerals, and the Numbering style Drop-down list box will be dimmed and not selectable.

Restart numbering after: Select a level in the following Drop-down list, and restart numbering after the specified level. Generally, you can keep the default.

Apply changes to: If you have more than one paragraph area in your document that uses this list style, you can select the entire list, after insertion point, or selected text three options as needed when you change the numbering style.

5. Select the level in turn, complete the above settings, click OK when all is done.

Description

1. Defines the numbering font, does not affect the number of text, the document may appear in the number and subsequent text font is not uniform phenomenon.

2. Two scenarios are demonstrated in the animation: link the level to the heading style, each after a paragraph return can not automatically produce sequential number, but suitable for the extraction of directories, can document Map display title; link level to no style, automatically generate a sibling sequential number after a carriage return, but cannot extract the directory and use the Document Map. Other processing must be done.

3. In order to facilitate the text input, the demo will link the last level of the number to "body", another advantage is that you can use the shortcut keys or the buttons on the Formatting toolbar to quickly adjust to other high level numbers. Note: To change the level of a number, place the insertion point at the top of the paragraph text, or click to select the number.
