GitHub Open Source Project
Summary: GitHub has become the world's largest open-source project hosting platform, which currently hosts 7.8 million libraries to find the right open-source project for you in a haystack. But with GitHub's new on-line trending (trending) page, it's possible for potential open source projects and developers to emerge automatically.
GitHub has become the world's largest open source project hosting platform with 7.8 million project libraries on average, more than 80,000 repository updates per day, and 7,000 users building the first GitHub software library.
A variety of projects have been hosted on GitHub, including the White House's Open data policy, Chicago bike routes and the like.
Today, the GitHub development team launched a new trending (trending) page that makes it easy for developers to find potential open source projects.
Trending repositories (Trend library)
On this page, the top 25 potential open source projects are shown under the Repositories tab. This includes the name of the Organization/library, the main programming language used, the library description, the Star button, and the top 5 contributors to the project.
Trending developers (trend developer)
The top 25 potential organizations or developers are shown under the Developers tab, and the most popular libraries they have developed are listed.
Whether it's trending repositories or trending developers, you can re-filter by Time range (days, weeks, months) and programming languages.
This ranking is based on a series of data (such as star number, fork count, number of commits, number of follow, and item page views). GitHub counts 8 times a day and refreshes the page based on the results.
The trending page displays only the top 25 items or developers, and you can find more items by using the search feature.
