Tutorial
4.5 Controlling the relative position of multiple objects
The alignment operation described earlier is only part of the alignment provided by GoLive 5. To understand all the alignment features, go to the Align panel and see figure 4-26. In this panel, the currently available options will be highlighted, that is, "lit", which is not available, is grayed out, and is not "lit." GoLive 5 automatically provides the available options based on the currently selected object.
Figure 4-26 Entering the align panel
In this panel, the options in the Align to Percent (Snap to parent) area are used to align the selected objects with their parent, such as layout Grid, Text frame, as described earlier, and they can also be found in toolbars that you currently see. The options in other areas are used to control the relative positions between objects, some of which are not commonly used, but are unique, and are difficult to see in similar software (such as Dreamweaver 3), as shown in the table below to see what they are used for, and this tutorial is limited to one example of space.
Table: Options and uses for selecting multiple objects in the Align panel
Option name |
Chinese meaning |
Use |
Align Left |
Arrange left |
Align objects with the left edge of the object at the leftmost end of the direction |
Align Center |
Arrange Center |
Align to a common vertical centerline |
Align Right |
Align Right |
Align objects with the right edge of the object at the right end |
Align Top |
Arrange the top edge |
Aligns the objects at the top edge of the object with the highest horizontal direction |
Align Center |
Arrange Center |
Align to a common horizontal centerline |
Alig Ottom |
Arrange the bottom |
Align objects with low edges of the lowest object in the horizontal direction |
Relative to left Edges |
Relative to the left |
To uniformly cloth objects in a horizontal direction based on the left line of each object |
Relative to Vertical Centers |
Relative to Vertical center |
To uniformly cloth the objects in a horizontal direction based on the vertical centerline of each object |
Relative to right Edges |
Relative to right |
To uniformly cloth the objects in a horizontal direction based on the right line of each object |
Relative to Tops |
Relative to the top edge |
To uniformly cloth the objects vertically, using the top line of each object as the benchmark |
Relative to horizontal Centers |
Relative to the horizontal center |
To uniformly cloth the objects in a vertical direction based on the horizontal centerline of each object |
Relative to Bottoms |
Relative to the bottom |
The objects are uniformly in the vertical direction based on the bottom line of each object. |
Distribute Spacing horizontally |
Uniform Horizontal Spacing |
The objects are uniformly spaced in the horizontal direction so that the left and right spacing are equal. |
Distribute Spacing vertically |
Uniform Vertical Spacing |
Evenly-spaced objects in a vertical direction, making them equal up and down |
