Schmidt also spoke highly of rumors that Microsoft will acquire Yahoo recently, saying that even if Microsoft successfully acquires Yahoo, it will not pose a threat to Google.
Analysts pointed out that Google will compete directly with Microsoft in the software market this time. Schmidt said with such a high profile that he was not afraid of cooperation or mergers and acquisitions between Microsoft and Yahoo, and showed that Google was not afraid of Microsoft and the great determination to enter the application software market. Microsoft originally hoped to challenge Google by acquiring Yahoo, but now Google directly challenges Microsoft's core business.
At the beginning of this month, it was reported that Microsoft had stepped up its "pursuit" of Yahoo after losing Google in the DoubleClick competition ". It is estimated that Microsoft may have to pay nearly $50 billion to successfully acquire Yahoo. Schmidt said: "Even if Microsoft successfully acquires Yahoo, it will not force us to change our strategy. Of course, this will change the competition to a certain extent, but it will not bring us any difference ." After making the above comments, Schmidt emphasized the company's strategy: Google is no longer simply a search company. Schmidt said Google's corporate strategy would be "search, advertising, and software ", this reflects Google's strategy to expand to the online software field out of its search and advertisement-based scope.
It is reported that Google entered the software field by launching Google Apps last year. Google Apps includes a series of online application software and Web release tools for free. In addition, Google also provides a paid version of the software to enterprises, universities, and government departments.
