According to AdSense's official blog, Google AdSense has modified the Click format of the content ad unit. The original format is that you can click the unit in the whole area, the new format is that the mouse can be clicked only when it is placed in the hyperlink.
According to Google, the reason for doing so is to improve the user experience of advertising, reduce the number of missed points, and ensure that AdWords users only pay for valid click, by reducing accidental click, to increase the value and satisfaction of advertising alliances, and encourage publishers to consume more.
According to my AdSense data these days, the click-through rate of AdSense seems to have declined a little, but eCPM does not seem to have been improved, but has been reduced. In general, after Google AdSense implemented this set of "improving user experience" strategy, my AdSense advertising revenue for the past few days was the lowest in this month.
Of course, the impact of this modification cannot be determined only from a few days of data, but I think for users who do not know much about the network, the new advertisement format may make users unable to find the places to click, resulting in a decline in the overall ad click rate. However, we cannot find users who do not know much about the Internet, it may be the most easy-to-consume group of users, which may also be a loss for advertising publishers.
