System Environment: BackTrack 5 r3 GNOME Problem description: When a root user is logged on, the following error is prompted when chrome is opened: Google Chrome can not be run as root. please start Google Chrome as a normal user. to run as root, you must specify an alternate -- user-data-dir for storage of profile information. use hexedit to edit the chrome file and change geteuid to getppid. The process is as follows: 1. search and install hexedit: # apt-get hexedit2. use hexedit to modify the/opt/google/chrome file. Modify the file according to the method described on the Internet, and prompt that the file is read-only, no matter how chmod is used to modify permissions, the system still prompts read-only. The following method is used: # cp chrome/root/# hexedit/root/chrome to modify chrome in the/root/directory. Open chrome and press the Tab key, press Ctrl + s to search for geteuid. After finding the ID, enter the getppid directly. The geteuid will be overwritten, and then press Ctrl + x to save it. Ps: Note: if the path is different, use the dpkg-c installation package to check the installation path. 3. Copy chrome under the/root directory back to/opt/google/chrome/to overwrite the original chrome file. Open chome and you can use it now.
