Feedsquares chrome extension can make your Google Reader interface extremely cutting-edge. Although it lacks some basic functions, it can improve reading speed, each entry is converted into a color square (if there is an image in the feed, the image is displayed). You can view it by category. After you click a category, all the related small blocks are arranged in sequence (other blocks are deprecated out). Click a color block to view the article in the pop-up window.
