After Win7 installed the Ubuntu14.04 dual system, suddenly found that Ubuntu open the opportunity to eject disk space is not enough hint, see Disk usage Discovery/directory usage up to 100%, by looking for information, self-summary of this/directory expansion of the space tutorial. There is no loss of the original system on the space expansion.

First, the preparation work under Ubuntu

1. View disk condition: sudo fdisk-l

The instructions can also be viewed to the Windows disk situation, figure 1 has the Linux logo is my ubuntu partition. Figure 1 and Figure 2 can compare windows and Linux scenarios.

Figure 1:

Figure 2:

2. View hard disk usage: DF fdisk-l

From Figure 3 You can see that the/directory usage is already 100%.

Figure 3:

3. See if Ubuntu has gparted tools: sudo gparted

If not, install Gparted:sudo apt-get installation gparted

4, remove the idle space (should not be necessary, psychological comfort)

sudo apt-get clean

Second, the U disk preparation work

1, from the U disk boot disk into the Ubuntu system

Make an Ubuntu USB disk boot disk, if you start directly from the computer, into the gparted after the interface 4, all the disks are preceded by a small key icon, you cannot change the size of the disk or move.

Figure 4:

From the USB flash drive into the Ubuntu system will appear after the installation interface, we choose to try Ubuntu, and then through the dash search, 5, you can open the GParted tool.

Figure 5:

Once again, GParted will find that most of the small keys are missing, and we have to notice that the Linux-swap is marked with a small key in front of the drive. Linux-swap (/DEV/SDA6) is a partition that mounts/swap. Select it, right-click, and select Disable Swap space. At this point all the little keys disappear and I can do it. Because the swap space cannot be manipulated while it is in use.

Iii. partitioning through the gparted

1. Determine the drive letter object to be manipulated

First, we need to determine the space to increase the/directory of the drive letter marker, through Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3, and the size of the comparison disk (by size to determine what I think is a more reliable approach) OK/directory is/dev/sda8.

2. Move unallocated space to/near the directory

The size of my Add/directory (/DEV/SDA8) is to compress 40GB of space from the NTFS file system such as/dev/sda3, and then move this 40G space step-by-step to the back of/DEV/SDA8.

First select/dev/sda3, right-click, select Change Size/move, the interface shown in Figure 6 will appear (Figure 6 is only, not when I am actually operating)

In the previous free space filled in 0, after the free space filled in 40000 (almost 40G),/dev/sda3 will be compressed out of unallocated 40G space.

Then check/dev/sda4, repeat the above: in the previous free space to fill in 0, after the free space to fill 40000 (almost 40G), 40G size of unallocated space ran to the back of/DEV/SDA4.

Repeat above for/dev/sda5,/dev/sda6,/dev/sda7,/dev/sda8, this unallocated space of about 40G runs below/dev/sda8 (according to other tutorials, this 40G space can also be on the/DEV/SDA8)

Figure 6:

3, Expansion/directory of space

Select/dev/sda8, right-click, select Resize/move, 7, drag the green box until the previous free space, then the free space is changed to 0, and then tap resize/move, so that 40G of space is incorporated into the/DEV/SDA8.

Figure 7:

At this point, we can see a few tasks to be operated on below the GParted interface, as shown in 8. Careless error in the unallocated space move process It's okay, this time there is no real space redistribution, just the assignment phase, GParted provides the undo key, you can undo these tasks, after confirming the error, then determine the execution of all operations.

Figure 8:

After all the tasks are confirmed, the Figure 9 interface will appear, and the process needs to wait for almost 30 minutes.

Figure 9:

4. Enable Swap space

We have previously disabled swap space and must remember to enable it after the partition has ended.

Some tutorials provide methods related to UUID to solve the problem because the swap space is disabled and Ubuntu is not used properly. I found that I could re-enable it directly in the GParted tool when I was actually working.

At this point, our hands-on operation is a complete end. Can see the acceptance of their own small results.

Iv. Supplementary

After the operation of several disk characters on Linux, a 10 prompt appears. My approach is to ignore it directly first. Seems to have no effect on the back of the operation.
