I. Installation
* Windows XP SP3
* VersionServ-u10.3
Download the latest serv-u10.3 executable installation and start configuring serv-u after installation is successful.
Ii. Configuration
1. New Domain (test)
Click new domain to start domain creation.
Enter Domain Name: test and Remarks: My firstFTPServer. Perform the next step.
Here, the parameter is kept by default. The default FTP port is 21. You can also change it to another non-conflicting port (for security reasons) to perform the next step.
The IP address here, because it is a local test, you can select the IP address 192.168.6.128 in the LAN to access the server as the IP address for a while. Perform the next step.
The encryption method here depends on the actual situation. Click Finish to complete the domain creation process.
2. Create a user
After creating a domain, you can access the FTP server as follows. Of course, you need to create a user. The administrator can also create it at this time to facilitate maintenance and management.
Use the Wizard to create a user.
The user name here is used as the identity to access the FTP user. If you have the modification permission for the domain administrator held by the visitor, you can modify and restrict the permission. Enter test for the test here. Perform the next step.
The default password is a string of random passwords, which is not easy to remember, but the security performance is relatively high. We don't need to perform the test. Just write a test password. However, the account and password similar to test should not appear in actual applications, because the security performance is extremely low. Perform the next step.
Select the root directory, that is, the location of the physical directory that the user logs on to. I created the FTP directory under drive C: \ in advance. Select a directory.

Perform the next step.
Here is the user's access permission settings, there are read-only and full access.
If read-only, you cannot modify the file information in the directory and will access the file in read-only mode. If you want to download and upload files under the modified directory, set the permission to full access. Click "finish" to complete the creation of the user.
Iii. FTP access
Enter the FTP server address in the address bar of the browser (the above address is "http: // 192.168.6.128 ")
Enter the user name (test) and password (test) to log on.
The two files in the directory set by the FTP server are created in advance. It can be downloaded to a local device and uploaded to a file.
Now the installation and use of the SERV-U is basically complete.
4. Other configurations
For example, you can set the welcome word in user attribute settings.
You can also set the access time to limit the user's access time to the FTP space.
Here, the FTP user "test" is "unauthorized". You can upgrade it to a domain administrator by modifying its permissions. It has higher permissions, such as configuring the domain and adding or deleting the user's permissions.
For example, here I upgraded the test permission to "domain administrator"
Once again, you can access the FTP server on the web terminal and log on to the domain configuration page.
