The loopback group policy is also called Group Policy loopback processing. It is a method that can limit the execution of group policies after debugging.
Group policies are divided into two parts: the upper part is the computer policy and the lower part is the user policy)
The loopback process allows the Administrator to execute the user policy based on the computer ou.
Normally, the Group Policy is executed in the following order:
1. Execute the computer policy based on the computer ou
2. Execute the user policy based on the user ou
However, loopback processing can execute the user policy in the computer.
Loopback processing has two modes:
1. Replaced Mode)
In this mode, the user's policy will be ignored and the computer's policy will be fully executed. This can be applied in a lab or an independent department (which needs to be managed separately)
2. Merge Mode)
The merge mode is a relatively abstract concept. Most applications are used in remote desktop. The specific execution order is that the computer policy is executed based on the computer ou, and then the user policy is executed based on the user ou, finally, execute the user policy based on the computer ou.
How to debug:
Computer Configuration> policies> Administrative Templates> system> Group Policy> User Group Policy loopback Processing
You can select replaced or merged in mode.
