Hard Disk Bad Sectors are divided into two types: logical and physical bad sectors. The former is soft and bad sectors, which are usually caused by software operations or improper use and can be repaired by software. For example, you can use Scandisk to fix the fault under 98, in XP or 2000, you can use chkdsk with parameters to repair damaged files. the latter is a real physical bad track. It indicates that physical damage has occurred to the hard disk track and can only be solved by changing the hard disk partition or sector usage. If your hard disk has the following symptoms, you should pay attention to whether the hard disk has encountered bad channels:
(1) read a file or run Program When the hard disk reads the disk repeatedly and an error occurs, it prompts information such as file damage, or it takes a long time to succeed; sometimes even a blue screen appears;
(2) the hard disk sound suddenly changes from the original normal friction sound to a strange sound;
(3) If Virus Infection is excluded, the system cannot be started normally and prompts such as "sector not found" or "general error in reading drive C" appear;
(4) When the Format hard disk is used, the system stops at a certain time, and the last error is reported, which cannot be completed;
(5) Scandisk is automatically run to scan disk errors every time the system is started;
(6) When you execute fdisk on the hard disk, it will go into and out again at a certain progress;
(7) The system cannot be guided through the hard disk during startup. After the system is started with a floppy disk, it can be transferred to the hard disk drive letter, but it cannot be accessed. The system cannot be transmitted using the Sys command. This situation is likely due to a problem with the Boot Sector of the hard disk.
If the above error occurs, you need to be careful. This indicates that your hard disk has a bad track!
Hard Disk Bad Track repair
1. Fixed the logical bad track.
Start with the simplest method. With the disk scanning tool in windows, right-click the drive letter in resource manager and select (1) in the pop-up drive Properties window) "tool> Start Check", set the scan type to full scan, Select Automatic repair error, and then click Start, the scan time varies depending on the disk capacity and scan options (2) (figure ).
If the logical bad track exists in the system area and cannot be started properly, we can use the Windows 98/me boot disk, type the Scandisk drive letter at the DOS prompt, and press Enter. Once a bad track is found, the program will prompt you if you want to fix it (repair), and select YES to start the repair. This solution can be used in many cases where Windows cannot be started due to logical bad channels in the system zone.
Because Windows 98/me only automatically repairs logical bad channels rather than physical bad channels, in fact, the 1st methods often do not work. What should we do if we encounter physical bad sectors?
2. Use Scandisk to check physical bad Channels
Scandisk is powerless for physical bad sectors. It can only mark it as a bad track and will not perform read and write operations on this area any more. Physical Bad Sectors will spread to the surrounding area, as a result, data stored near bad channels is also at risk.
When Scandisk is used, it stops when a bad track is found. Note that the number of Scandisk stops, for example, 22%. If the total disk capacity is 2 GB, 2 GB × 22% = 0.44 GB, the starting position of the bad track on the hard disk is approximately 400 mb. Because the bad track on the hard disk is easy to spread around, you must leave enough buffer to set the capacity of the first partition on the hard disk to MB, the remaining GB is divided into eight zones in MB. If you use Scandisk to check all partitions, You cannot delete or hide the partitions detected by Scandisk to ensure that the system no longer reads or writes data to these areas. Other adjacent partitions can be used after merging. Partition, hide, delete, merge, and other operations can be performed using tools such as partitionmagic or diskman on the graphic interface.
3. Use software to hide Physical Bad Sectors
Use partitionmagic5.0/6.0 to process the hard disk. Partitionmagic can repartition the hard disk without damaging data, dynamically change the partition size, change the file format of the partition, hide or display existing partitions, and so on. Copy the DOS version of partitionmagic5.0/6.0 to a floppy disk, boot the system with a Windows 98/me disk, and run pqmagic. EXE on the floppy disk.
Then scan the hard disk, you can directly use the "check" command under the operations menu in partitionmagic to complete it. After marking the bad cluster, you can try to retest it, the method is to select "Advanced/badsector retest" under the operations menu, divide the bad cluster into one (or several) area, and then use the hidepartition menu item to hide partitions containing bad channels, to avoid misoperation in Windows 98/ME.
Note: If the partition with bad channels is hidden without formatting, the subsequent partitions of the partition will fail to run some program related to the drive letter due to the change of the drive letter. The solution is to use the drivemapper menu item under the Tools menu, which automatically collects shortcuts and information about the registry, and immediately updates the drive letter parameters in the application, to ensure the normal operation of the program.
In addition, you can also try to use diskman to do these jobs. We will not detail them here.
4. Fixed bad sectors with 0 sectors on the hard disk.
Although it is difficult to solve the problem of zero-sector damage to the hard disk, It is not hopeless. Here we will introduce two methods.
Method 1: We use the diskman software to fix the problem. The specific method is as follows:
① Run diskman in pure DOS mode and select the drive letter from the "Hard Disk" menu. Then, the partition format of the hard disk is displayed on the main interface as FAT32, the start cylindrical 0, and the start head 1, the total capacity is 2 GB;
② Go to "Tools> parameter modification" (or press F11) in sequence. In the modify partition dialog box that appears, change "0" to "1 ";
③ Return the DM main interface and press F8 to save the Modification result. After modification, You Need To reformat the hard disk. (3) (figure)
Method 2: We use the de tool in pctools9.0, which is familiar to some people. The specific method is as follows:
① Start with a Windows 98/me boot disk and run de in the directory pctools9.0. EXE, first go to the options menu, select Configuration (configuration), Press space to remove the hook before read only (read-only) (switch by tab), save and exit;
② Select drive from the select (select) Main Menu );
③ After Entering, select physical (physical) in drive type (drive type), Press space to select, then press the tall key to switch to the drives item, and select hard disk (hard disk ), select OK and press Enter;
④ Return to the main menu, open the Select menu, and the partition table (Partition Table) will appear, select and enter, and then the hard disk partition table information will appear;
⑤ If the hard disk has two partitions, the L partition is the c disk, and the partition starts from the 0 cylindrical disk, the beginning cylinder (start cylindrical) of the 1 partition) change the value of 0 to 1;
6. Save and exit;
7. Restart and press the delete key to enter the COMs settings. Select "Ide Auto Detect". We can see that cyls is 1 less than the original one. Save and exit, repartition and format. This is a success.
Tip: Before the modification, back up the important data on the hard disk. In addition, pctools9.0 cannot run on the hard disk and windows with the FAT32 partition, but can run on the hard disk with the fat16 partition. After the repair, you must re-detect the hard disk in CMOS, and then partition and format it, because only after formatting the hard disk will the partition table information be written to the 1 Sector (now as the 0 sector ).
5. Low-Level formatting to repair bad Channels
None of the above methods work, and you are unwilling to discard the hard disk. You can consider using low-level formatting to handle hard disk faults. However, low-level formatting re-divides the magnetic channels and sectors, marks the address information, and sets the cross factor. It takes a long time to read and write the hard disk. Each time it is used, it will cause severe wear and tear on the hard disk, it is even worse for hard disks that already have physical bad sectors. Practice has proved that low-level hard disks with physical bad sectors will be decommissioned. For logical bad sectors, there is no need to use a low-level program as a repair method. In addition, the low level will completely erase all data in the hard disk, which is irreversible. Therefore, low-level disks can only be used as a last resort. After low-level disks, you must use the format command for advanced formatting before using it.

Of course there are better methods
I am processing it now
The specific method is as follows:
Download HD tune2.10 and scan the disk surface to find out the specific location of the disk's bad track.
Download partition magic and install
Then, repartition the disk based on the bad track location, and leave the bad track and its surroundings empty and hide it.
It is better to stick it on someone else's machine.
However, the only drawback is that it takes time to scan the disk surface. I have estimated 20 GB (I use USB for the mobile hard disk, so it is much faster to directly stick it on the machine) it takes about six hours.
2.
This IMG contains two versions: English and Chinese.
It perfectly solves the problem of reading a floppy disk and can be put into a CD to run it.

Effective Source bad track repair program is a professional program launched by Jin haishuo, dedicated to hard drive all kinds of bad tracks (logical, physical, ECC errors ), is currently the best, most efficient, and most powerful program. Package usage: the package contains a winimage folder and a jhs. IMG floppy disk image file. 1. decompress the file to a new folder. 2. Prepare a MB software and format it. 3. Run winimage in the winimage folder, select jhs. IMG, and put the L floppy disk into drive. Then press the write button. Until the write is completed. IV,Do not view the content of disk A after writing. That is to say, do not use any program to open disk A (remember)5. Use this prepared disk to guide the machine. I don't want to say much about how to check and fix the bad track on the primary drive, because it is all Chinese. You can do it in one minute!
