Hard disk Installation freebsd6.2 notes (reprint)

Determined to install a freebsd6.2!
Do not upgrade from 6.0, worry about making world error, completely reload.
Worst of all, there is no empty burning disk around, so you can only install the hard disk.
This is my first time to install the FreeBSD from the hard drive, endure. Make a note, afraid of later to be installed when forgotten.

1, the preparation stage
1.1 System installation Image
To www.freebsd.org official net to go down, or the campus FTP can, find 6.2release version of.

1.2 Isoemu
Google search, download this isoemu.
This software is used to load the ISO image when the machine is started.
That is, before the Windows logo appears, a Multiple system boot menu appears and then goes into the bootable disc image that is loaded.
The specific configuration method is very simple, download the Isoemu, the description file to see a glance.

1.3 Copy font files from windows
Major copies of these three fonts:
SIMSUN.TTC (XXFarEastFont-Arial), Simhei.ttf (blackbody), Tohoma.ttf (italics).
Copy to u disk or put on the internet, after installing good FreeBSD and then download.

1.4 Copy the wireless card driver files from Windows
It is mainly two documents:
W22n51.sys and W22n51.inf

2, install the kernel
2.1 Boot-only mirroring of FreeBSD guided by Isoemu
That's the twenty or thirty-megabyte mirror. Why not direct with DISC1.
I have tried, with DISC1 guide, will crash. Perhaps the mirror is too big, the specific reason is not clear. Whatever it is, boot with boot-only mirroring.

2.2 Start installing the kernel
In front of the installation industry, the network cable plugged in (because to be from the Internet under the Dongdong Oh, and the request is through the router to the Internet Oh. ）
Start installation, partition, then choose to install from FTP, the site selected Taiwan, relatively fast.
The next distribute is to select the minimized installation.

3, 7788 Configuration
3.1 Distributions all Loaded
Mount the DISC1 from the removable hard drive, as follows:
Mdconfig-a-T vnode-f xxx.iso-u 1
Mount_cd9660/dev/md1/mnt/disc1
(Xxx.iso is the DISC1 file name,/MNT/DISC1 is the destination folder to be mounted, the folder must already exist)
Enter the configured interface with the Sysinstall command.
Choose Configure.
Then choose Distributions and choose All.
(I'm going to use it for development, for learning, for all the choices)

3.2 Configure wireless Internet access
1 Enter/sys/modules/ndis and make it.
(NDIS is.) Because many device manufacturers are stingy and don't want to open source, their product drivers have no Linux version. This NDIS is used to convert Windows drivers to Linux versions. )

2 Run Ndisgen, select 3, and then follow the wizard to transform the driver under Windows into a Linux version.
The result of the conversion is a file with a. ko suffix.

3 the resulting. ko file is named Wless.ko and then copied to the/boot/kernel directory.

4) Modify the/boot/defaults/loader.conf file, add these two sentences:
Wless_load= "YES"
Wlan_wep_load= "YES"

5) Modify/etc/rc.conf file, write on:
defaultrouter=192.168.0.1
Network_interfaces=ndis0
ifconfig_ndis0= "inet 192.168.0.xxx netmask 255.255.255.0 ssid xxx nwkey xxxxx"

Among them, the inet behind the machine is the ip,ssid of the router Id,nwkey is the password of the wireless network.
(This step is to make wireless Internet access every time you start)

6 If you want to test the configuration is not good, you can kldload wless to see whether the wireless led light.

Ifconfig ndis0 inet 192.168.0.xxx netmask 255.255.255.0 SSID xxx nwkey xxxxx up
When you enter a large string, you will generally be able to surf the Internet.

3.3 Configuring localization and Input methods
Install FCITX, this is a useful input method.
There are 2 different ways to install:
1) Port Installation
2) Package Installation

The default is the CSH shell.
Create a new. cshrc file in the root directory and enter the following:

3.5 Desktop Installation
