In the Quick Launch bar of SharePoint 2010, you can show or hide links to lists, libraries, and sites based on permissions, and if a user or group does not have permission to access a list, library, or site, the corresponding link is not visible on the Quick Launch bar on the left. This is also a more user-friendly design, but only links created automatically by using SharePoint are controlled by permissions, and if you add them manually, you won't be exposed and hidden by SharePoint permissions.
When you create a list or library, the default navigation link is displayed on the Quick Launch bar, as shown in Figure 1:
Figure 1
When you create a list or library, click the More Options button on the Create form to go to the interface in Figure 1, the default Navigation value is yes, and if you don't want to show it on the Quick Launch bar, you can select No and you can change to Yes later.
Navigation links that are displayed on the Quick Launch bar, which are created or modified in SharePoint 2010, are displayed or hidden by permission control. Figure 2 is a well-created list:
Figure 2
Because by default we create lists and libraries are shown on the Quick Launch bar on the left side of Figure 2, if a user does not have access to list A, then when this user logs on to the interface in Figure 2, a will not be displayed, if you want to disconnect the permissions of a and the site, set permissions separately, Because the user is required to be able to log on to the Web site at this point, but cannot see List A, you must have permission to access the Web site, but you do not have permission to access list A. The permissions after list A is broken are shown in Figure 3:
Figure 3
If you do not grant any permissions to list A in Figure 3, List A does not see links on the Quick Launch bar except for the "Full Control" and "Design" permissions, and other rights users log on to the site. As shown in Figure 4:
Figure 4
The link to list A is no longer found in Figure 4, because the currently logged-on user does not have permission to access this list, and thus achieves the purpose of using permissions to control navigation links, but one thing to note: In SharePoint 2010, only automatically created links are controlled by permissions, if you manually The links added in the site settings are not controlled by permission, even if the link to list A is exactly the same. As shown in Figure 5:
Figure 5
Figure 5 is a link to a list A that is manually added to the Quick Launch bar, click "OK" as shown in Figure 6:
Figure 6
As shown in Figure 6, the Quick Launch bar has two a links, the URLs of the two links are exactly the same, and the last a link is added manually. Now we are using restricted users to sign in to this site, as shown in Figure 7:
Figure 7
In Figure 7 We can also see a link to the list A, this is the manual way we add it, click to be inaccessible, as shown in Figure 8:
Figure 8
Although you can see manually added links on the Quick Launch bar, this is true for document libraries because the entire list is under the control of SharePoint permissions and you cannot view the contents of this list.
