13 channels, which one should I choose?

Some routers also work in the 5.8GHz band, such routers are called dual-frequency routers.

From 2.412GHz to 2.472GHz, every 5MHz is divided into one channel. Some countries can use 14 channels.

As shown above, although the 2.4G band is divided into 13 channels, each adjacent channel is in fact partially overlapping. In the 1, 6, and 11 channels above, you will see that there is no intersection between these 3 channels. Also
That is, for this reason, if your upstairs neighbor uses 1 channels, the downstairs neighbor uses 6 channels, and you use 11 channels, your interference will be minimal.
Of course, there are other reasons, the router's channel in automatic selection, often default to select these 3 channels.
To compare the influence of the router on the Wi-Fi signal when choosing different channels, I changed the channel to a crowded channel 1. The detected network signal strength is shown in the following illustration:
The signal strength here is " -65dbm", it should be noted that the larger the value, the better the signal, such as the -60DBM signal strength is greater than -65dbm.
When choosing "Channel 1", my wireless signal is worse than the time is " -65dbm", gradually improved, the signal strength will jump to " -57dbm", and the worst time is completely no signal, that is, drop line, of course, the line may also be other reasons.
Then I changed the channel to "13", at which point the signal strength was as follows:

Through the experiments above, we can basically conclude that the Wi-Fi signal differs when the router chooses a different channel.
However, we also have to emphasize that routers, different network environment, time period is different, its experimental results will be different. For example, in a large shopping mall, if the merchants inside have their own routers, then this interference will be more serious, experimental results will become obvious, such a scene there is a large office area.
Another note that interferes with your Wi-Fi signal is not just someone else's router, but also your own and someone else's Bluetooth headset, Bluetooth keyboard and microwave oven, because Bluetooth and microwave ovens also work near the 2.4GHz band.
After many experiments, the signal can be increased by at least 5dBm or above when different channels are changed.
If the Wi-Fi signal is great, you don't have to worry about channel selection. Also, if it is too far away from the router, wear more walls, then the impact of the channel is relatively small, you can not worry about. But if you find your home Wi-Fi signal, its strength is not enough to the neighbors, you can try a different channel, such as "13", if not too many people in your nearest neighbourhood to choose channel "13" manually.
