How can excellent students use time efficiently?

I. Remember: a large amount of time is not important.

When it comes to time shortage, many people will first think of how to squeeze time-compressing the sleeping time, compressing the meal time, compressing the leisure and entertainment time, etc, it seems that the ultimate goal of time management is to compress all time beyond learning to the extreme.

Students who are worried about their academic performance are often troubled by the lack of time. They think that if they want to catch up with their scores, they must "make up the course" for themselves-to learn more about the previous basics or to find additional supplementary teaching materials. However, teachers spend most of their time in class, and they have to arrange a lot of homework. They can't even finish their homework every day. Where can they learn by themselves?

Another case is that some people spend a lot of time learning, almost reaching the physiological limits of people, and it is unlikely that the time has come out, but the progress is still very limited. When I saw that I was reading a book and doing my questions in a very painful way, some students who scored much better than myself seemed very leisurely. If time is spent in this field, is there room for improvement?

For these questions, I would like to explain in one sentence: "Time is not important, but efficiency is important ."

Ii. Matthew Effect of learning time"

To understand the relationship between efficiency and time, let's calculate the amount of time: for a high-school student with a moderate level of effort, the time spent in learning is about 10 hours. This duration can ensure that he has enough sleep and enough time to rest every day. If we want to squeeze time out, how much can we squeeze out? Suppose you only slept for six hours a day-this is already an exaggeration. Occasionally, sleeping for only six hours a day feels nothing, and for a long time in a row, many people will not be able to stand it. It takes only one hour for three meals to walk (at least six times a day, even from the dormitory to the canteen to the classroom, it also takes an hour to wash your face and rinse your mouth to the toilet and perform other chores. In this case, we spent 16 hours learning each day. In this way, we increase the learning time by 60% than others.

This is a good number. In fact, it is amazing to accumulate more than 60% words every day. If a person can really stick to it like this, it is also a matter of course to make progress.

However, this account misses a very important thing-the difference between people. When I read the same content, some people will remember it almost once. Some people will remember half of the content, while others will not be able to remember anything after reading it. An ordinary math proof question, a student with excellent scores, he only needs to spend five minutes to make it, and a student with poor scores may have to think about at least ten minutes, even a longer period of time-it is normal to be difficult to get a math question for half an hour. In this case, the students who have learned well can solve 12 such questions in an hour, while the students who have learned poorly can only solve 6 such questions in an hour. We spent more than 60% more time. The result is calculated as follows (10 hours × 12): (16 hours × 6) = 120: 96 =. The effect of ten hours of study is 25% higher than that of 16 hours! In other words, we have made 60% more effort than others, but we have a 25% lower effect than others.

This charge is rather scary. Although the efficiency gap may not be, the conclusion itself will not change much-if you consider 16 hours a day, such high-intensity learning will make people physically and mentally tired, unable to concentrate, and greatly reduce the learning efficiency, so the gap in this efficiency will only be greater. This is why students with poor academic performance feel that time is not enough. Students with higher scores feel that time is not enough. I sometimes give lectures in the middle school. After the lecture, I will ask the teachers to chat with me in different score sections. The basic situation is as follows:

The lower-ranking students always complain that the teacher has too many assignments, but they do not have time to study by themselves. The top students think that the homework assigned by the teacher is actually not much, I have already done my homework almost before I leave school every day. For the rest of the time, I can find some questions to find some books. I can also have a little leisure and entertainment.

This is a very frustrating situation for those who wish to change the status quo through their hard work. For this phenomenon, I gave it a name called the Matthew Effect of learning time. Matthew effect refers to a social phenomenon in which the stronger the strong and the weaker the weak. The name is a fable in the Bible Matthew. In Chapter 25th of the Gospel of Matthew in the New Testament, the Bible says, "If there is anything, add it to him to make him redundant. If there is no, take all of his resources."

In life, people often observe the Matthew effect on the gap between the rich and the poor: rich people are more and more wealthy because they can gain investment income and seize the opportunity to earn money; for those who have no money, all the money is used to eat, wear, and shelter, and there is no way to save, so they are getting poorer and poorer.

We can see that there is a phenomenon similar to the "Matthew effect" in learning through the time accounting of the Senior Three. People who are good at reading books and reading questions are easy, and there is a lot of time left for them to make greater progress. However, those who are worried about learning are very painful and inefficient in reading books, every day, even the homework assigned by the teacher is difficult to complete, and it is only getting harder and harder to learn. The gap between the rich and the poor increases.

To solve this problem, it is useless to squeeze time alone-just as the poor simply rely on savings to fundamentally change their own economic conditions-we must remember that there is something more important than time in the world: efficiency. The eyes only look at time and cannot escape the trap of the Matthew effect. When managing time, we must remember that every person has only 24 hours a day, and how to squeeze is limited. However, the efficiency of time utilization can be multiplied, there is a lot of room for improvement. When we are thinking about how to use time, the first thing we need to think about is not how to extract time from where, but how to improve the efficiency of the existing time utilization.

Iii. First principle of improving time utilization efficiency: Learn to discard

When talking about how to deal with interpersonal relationships in "Learning to change fate", I say, "the most important principle of good interpersonal relationships is not to try to make everyone like you ." The idea of this sentence is used in time management. It can also be said: "The most important principle to make good use of time is not to try to do everything well ."

When talking about a schedule, many people always associate it with a neatly arranged schedule. In fact, if you forget this principle, the beautiful schedule is just a decoration. People have limited time, and it is impossible to squeeze 25 hours out of a day. But what we need to do is infinite. Even if we only want to learn, we can never read the books we want to read, and we can never finish the questions we want to do, what you want to recite is endless. I have made a math exam in this study, so I cannot make a physical exam again. Even if your plan is perfect, but one day you suddenly have a cold and fever and want to see a doctor, the plan will be disrupted. Therefore, no matter how you plan, it is impossible to complete all the things to be done, no matter how you plan, it is impossible to arrange everything in a seamless manner. What should we do when there are many choices and some tasks cannot be completed? Only after answering this question can we really understand how to manage time. The answer to this question is: only do the most important thing.

Here, I will introduce you to an economic basic concept-"Opportunity Cost", which means the potential loss caused by giving up a certain opportunity. For example, if you invest 100,000 yuan to open a grocery store and earn two thousand yuan a month, isn't it worth doing? If we simply look at the "cost-benefit" in the book, we need to purchase 10 thousand yuan a month, sell twelve thousand yuan, and the benefits are greater than the cost. Of course, it is worth doing. However, you have another option. You can spend 100,000 yuan to open a mobile phone store and earn five thousand yuan a month. At this time, will you choose to open a grocery store? Obviously, no, because you only have 100,000. If you choose to open a grocery store, you just give up opening a mobile phone store, that is, giving up the monthly income of five thousand yuan. Therefore, the book cost of your grocery store is 10 thousand of the monthly purchase, but there is actually a hidden "Opportunity Cost"-that is, the cost of "opportunity" to earn five thousand yuan. The sum of the two is ten thousand and five, which is ten thousand and two more than the monthly benefit of the grocery store, and the cost is greater than the profit. Therefore, a wise merchant will not open a grocery store but a mobile phone store.

Similarly, we have a limited time. If you choose to do something, you will give up doing something else. "Doing other things" is your "Opportunity Cost ". Therefore, the criteria for us to do things are not "whether something is meaningful", but "whether something is the most meaningful ".

People who really know how to use time must know how to give up. There is a lot of pressure in middle school, and many people are confused. When we are studying, there are always a lot of books in front of us, but each time you can only pick up a book and read it carefully, instead of reading more than a dozen books at the same time-this is the most time-consuming learning method. Only after reading one copy can I pick up another one. Which one should I choose? The answer is simple: the most important one. I am not sure about the second important one. After reading the most important book, the second important one became the most important one.

Make sure that you are always doing the most important thing, that is, ensuring that your time is always used efficiently. If you plan to give five exams today, one for each exam in Chinese, English, mathematics, physics, and chemistry. So, please first consider the subject that you need to improve most. Even if you suddenly fell down to your head and stayed in the hospital for a day, the exam you made is still very helpful for your score improvement.

  4. Second Principle of improving time utilization efficiency: Do what you can

Looking for the most important thing to do within a limited period of time, what you want to give up is not just something that looks less valuable. More importantly, you must learn to give up things that seem to be valuable but beyond your ability.

A difficult question can't help but challenge it. If you have enough time to solve the last problem after completing the questions in front of the college entrance exam, it is worth the challenge, because it will give you extra points. However, if your previous questions are difficult to sit up, not only will there be no results in challenging such problems, let's cut down the score-because you don't have more time to do the questions you could have scored.

To ensure our learning efficiency, we need to do more questions that adapt to our own level, both with a sense of accomplishment and improve our ability to solve problems. Do not do simple questions, or do questions that are too difficult. Let the experts solve 12 difficult problems. We only need 12 difficult questions. After we become proficient in difficult questions, you will naturally find that difficult questions are no longer so difficult.

The idea of doing questions is also very enlightening for us to develop time plans. Some people like to work out a time-frame with a strong mind. From the schedule point of view, they can't even squeeze out the toilet time. The original plan was to recite an English text in half an hour. Who knows that it took 40 minutes to complete it. I found that the time was not enough. I quickly put down my English textbooks, picked up my math questions, and did not do a few questions. I found that the time to back politics was too long ...... In short, the task is not completed after a day. In this way, there will be a sense of frustration. When I went to the second place, I had no confidence in myself. I always felt that my plan could not keep up with the changes, so it was increasingly difficult to learn according to the plan, soon another chaotic life began.

Therefore, for those who have just begun to make a plan, the plan should be set to a level lower than or higher than what they can do. For example, if you want to spend an hour reviewing a part of the content, you can plan to spend 80 minutes. Leave time to spare, but try to ensure that the tasks assigned to you can be completed every day. At the end of the day, you can feel a great sense of accomplishment when you finish all the tasks planned in the previous day. This gives you the confidence and motivation to continue developing and executing the plan. In this way, we can gradually raise standards to make effective use of time.

  5. Third Principle for improving time utilization efficiency: arrange the time according to the learning characteristics of different content

"No one can step into the same river twice"-this is a famous saying of the ancient Greek philosopher desynclitt. Then, we can also say: "No one can spend the same hour twice ." Every hour is unique. In every hour, the environment around us and our own physical and psychological status will change. The time for class and the time for self-study are obviously different. We can't simply divide the 24 hours into a small grid, then fill in the content, and it's called a "time plan ". We must learn how to match different learning contents with different times.

Only when you need to read, understand, and recite a large amount of things, you have to schedule a long period of time, with plenty of energy and are not easily disturbed. Why? It is easy to read and endorse books. People often have this experience: they stare at books, but they don't know where to go. Maybe they're still thinking about the hot pot they had eaten yesterday. Therefore, when reading a book, it is easier to become distracted. In addition, it takes about five to ten minutes to read a book. It took you ten minutes to get started, and suddenly something was interrupted, such as answering a phone call and then going back to the desk to read a book. It took you five to ten minutes to concentrate, when you read the book for two hours, it actually takes less than one hour to read the book. Therefore, it is best not to be disturbed when reading a book.

Therefore, for reading and reciting, it is best to choose a long period of time that is not easily disturbed.

So what are the time periods that are less energetic and easily subject to interference?

Used to answer questions. This is because you need to make calculations when you are doing questions, which can force you to concentrate. Even if the surrounding environment is noisy, even if you are not very energetic, you can still achieve the effect of exercises. For example, after ten minutes of class, you have to make ten English choice questions by yourself. You have just made five choices. Suddenly, some of you are chatting with me, and your thinking is interrupted, after chatting for a while, I wrote a pen and made a sixth remark. When I did my homework in class, I learned about the remark. If you use it to read books, unless you have the power of Superman, I'm afraid you have not read what is written in the book before you begin class.

Vi. Principle 4 of improving time utilization efficiency: Pay attention to proper rest

When we calculated the time for a Senior Three student study, although it was said that we could squeeze out more than 60% of the time. However, this 60% of the time is actually water-based, because a person is forced to squeeze out more than six hours in the case of insufficient sleep, it is impossible to compare the learning efficiency with 6 hours of good sleep. Therefore, if you remember "efficiency is more important than time", you can also understand that in the three phases of high learning, you need to take advantage of the time, in addition to time and study, but also to take a break.

In my high school, I used to take a nap and go to bed before midnight. Having to spend so much time sleeping every day in the high three stages may be related to my personal sleep. However, the necessary rest should be ensured during the preparation of the time plan. Many students are fond of staying up late because the night is quiet, which is conducive to learning. However, this will affect the spirit of the day. I always want to sleep in class, and I am afraid that I will be noticed by the teacher that I am not sleeping well, so I have not listened to the lesson and have not slept well, all night long. In fact, high school time is long and short. It's easy to waste time, and it's just over. It's long enough to study hard. Sometimes you can stay up late when the learning task is heavy. You can't hold on for a long time.

  7. Learn to execute: turn good plans into reality

Just as we need to prepare and review for our study, we need to keep the plan in mind before it is executed every day, and check it after it is executed every day. Only in this way can we constantly urge ourselves and persevere.

The plan I made every day should be checked and checked every night. After the check is completed, I checked the previous one. If the check is not completed, I checked the previous one, then, count the percentage of data completed. At the beginning, it was about 60% completed. After a long time, it could basically be around 80%. (Classic quotations www.ggdxc.com)

I have read a story before and forget who it is. In short, there was an ancient saying that he always thought that he would do something wrong every day. In order to make fewer mistakes, he thought of an idea: taking out a bowl, a pack of soy beans, and a pack of mung beans, once a good thing is done every day, the soy bean is put into the bowl. If something wrong is done, the mung bean is put into the bowl. Before going to bed every night, he would count the number of soy beans and green beans in it, and then think about what good and bad things he has done today. In this way, the number of soy beans increases and the number of mung beans decreases day after day.

From this story, we can see the benefits of daily supervision. No matter what you do, think about what you should do and what you should not do before going to bed every day. In this way, we can continue to make progress without stopping. If we have made a plan, we need to check our completion status every day so that we can urge ourselves to continuously improve and truly make and execute the plan.

After talking about how to manage the time, I didn't tell you how to list a table on how to schedule the time every day. In fact, this may be the least important aspect of the schedule. You only need to take out a pen and a piece of paper to fill the whole table, but the content in it may be useless for learning.

We all know that it is also a word-filled exam, and some can get 150 points, and some can only get zero points. Therefore, writing a full exam is not a skill. It is a skill to know what the correct content should be written. The same is true for time management. Listing tables to fill up time is not a skill. Knowing how to fill in the correct content at the right time and then earnestly executing it is a real skill.
