How can I change the system of an Alibaba Cloud ECS instance?

When using an Alibaba cloud server, you sometimes need to switch from a Windows system to a Linux system, or use the image provided by the 3rd party. Alibaba Cloud servers support system switching (replacing the system disk). Here we will introduce how to switch the system disk of Alibaba Cloud servers.

The process for replacing the system disk is as follows.

1. Stop an Alibaba Cloud ECS instance
2. Change system disk

Currently, system disk replacement is not supported in some regions (such as U.S. data centers.

Stop an Alibaba cloud server

1) log on to Alibaba Cloud and click "management console 」.

2) click "ECS" in the left column 」.

3) click "instance 」.

4) select the ECS instance for system replacement and click "stop 」.

5) click "OK 」.

6) enter the verification code sent to your mobile phone and click "OK 」.

Change system disk

1) after confirming that the ECS instance is in the stopped status, select ECS> change configuration more> change system disk 」.

2) click "OK" to change the system disk 」.

3) use Windows Server 2008 in a public image and enter the Administrator password (root user in Linux). Then, click "pay 」.

• Public Images: Alibaba Cloud provides various system images
• Custom image: the image created after installing Nginx, PHP, MySQL, and other middleware.
• Image market: various LAMP and other images provided by Alibaba Cloud's 3rd-party service providers

4) click "OK 」.

5) click "payment complete, return to instance List 」.

6) check whether Alibaba Cloud ECS has changed from Linux to Windows.
