For important folders, the best approach is to encrypt them. How can you find the encryption software that suits your needs and make the folders more lifelike? Here's how to encrypt folders.
Use the VHD and BitLocker features.
The VHD is a virtual disk file of Microsoft fictitious PC, and in the Windows 7 operating system we can create and mount the VHD separately, so we can use the VHD feature to create a virtual hard disk in the system and then use BitLocker encryption to keep our privacy files in this " Encrypted disk. Maybe some friends would say that encrypting the entire disk directly with BitLocker would be fine. In fact, if you do that, you can see it at a glance. Your disk is encrypted, and when you use the VHD, the file on your disk is displayed only as an extension of the VHD, and you cannot open the file by double-clicking it, and the average person doesn't know what it is.
Right-click Computer in Windows 7 to select Manage, click Disk Management in Computer Management, and right-click "Create VHD" (Figure 1). Click "Browse" here or enter the path of the VHD we want to create, such as G:VFD.VHD, then fill in the size of the virtual disk or select dynamic allocation according to your needs, and then the system will start to create a new disk. On the Disk Management page, we can see this new disk that is displayed as "Unknown". Right-click to select Initialize Disk (Figure 2), and then we can partition it on this unallocated disk by right-clicking the "New Simple volume", partitioning it in the dialog box that appears, or clicking " Next "until completed, the task to create the VHD is complete.
The next thing is to use BitLocker to encrypt the disk. In Explorer, select the VHD partition that you just created. Right-click to enable BitLocker, in the pop-up dialog box, select "Unlock the drive with a password", enter the password (Figure 3), click Next, for the prevention of accidentally forget the password, you can choose "Save the recovery key to file", and finally click "Start encryption ", after a long encryption process, the encryption task is complete." The VHD created is really our own encrypted disk, now we can put the personal privacy file inside, in the future to use the privacy file, only in Disk Management, through the right menu, "additional VHD" (Note: Windows 7 does not automatically mount the VHD virtual disk at each startup , this VHD file is mounted to the system, and because the password is required to access the disk after mounting (Figure 4), this achieves the purpose of encrypting the file.
Let the folder learn to sing "Kongchengji"
The Kongchengji of the kingdoms of the Chinese people are very familiar, Zhuge Liang can alone fuqin scare back Weijun, is deliberately put an empty city, let Sima Yi Heart born doubt afraid to March. When we protect important folders, we may as well sing Kongchengji, so that the peeping out of the work. Locknow This interesting green software, you can achieve the above strategy. Locknow's principle is to completely encrypt the contents of the target folder hidden, so that the original content completely invisible, so that the voyeur mistakenly think this is a worthless empty folder, and give up peep behavior. Locknow contains only one "LockNow.exe" program, which is copied to the destination folder, and when it is run, the current folder is encrypted when it is selected in its main window (Figure 1). Select the "Other Path" item to encrypt other folders. Here, select the first item, enter the password in the "Password" and "Re-password" fields, and click the "Lock Now" button.
The contents of the folder are then completely gone, but the "LockNow.exe" program still exists. You can copy some unrelated files to it for better obfuscation purposes. How can I retrieve the "missing" file in this folder? Just run the "LockNow.exe" program again, enter a preset password, and click on the "Unlock" button (Figure 2) to have the encrypted hidden file appear immediately. If you click the "Image to Driver" button, you can create a virtual drive in which all hidden files are displayed.
Set multiple passwords for a folder
As the saying goes, don't put all the eggs in one basket, because once the basket is damaged, all the eggs will be affected. Folder protection as well, now there are a number of folder encryption software, however, its encryption method has a fatal weakness, is the use of a single password, to unify all the folders encrypted. This way, once the password is compromised, there is no secret to all your important folders. Using Folder Lock, the free encryption software, you can avoid these problems.
Folder lock allows you to set different passwords for different folders so that once a password is compromised, it will not have much effect.
After you install folder lock, you need to restart your computer. Select the target drive in the Select Drive list in the Folder Lock main window (Figure 3), displaying all the folders that are contained on the left side of the window. Select the folder you want to encrypt, click the "Protect floder" button, enter the password in the pop-up window (Figure 4), click the "Protect folder" button, you can protect it, after the normal access to the folder.
By using this method, you can set different passwords for different folders. How do I access an encrypted folder? The method is very simple, in the Folder lock window select in the encrypted state of a directory, click the "Unprotect Folder" button, enter the matching password, you can restore its "vitality".
