Receive faxes with XP system

1. Start-set-Printers and fax machines (the machine must have a modem installed, and must have a telephone line connected to it).

2. Right-click in the margin-install a local fax printer, if it is the first time, you will need to select fax settings (if the Fax service is not installed on this computer, you need an XP installation disk to load some files).

3, according to the wizard, set up a fax machine, you need to choose modulation and demodulation

First, install the Fax component

To receive a fax under Windows XP, you must first have a modem that has a fax function. The Windows XP system does not have the fax feature installed at the default installation, so you will also install the Fax component for the system.

Go to Control Panel and double-click the Printers and Faxes icon to eject the Printers and Faxes window. Right-click in the margin of the window, select the Set Fax command, and the system will begin configuring the component. Then, when prompted to insert the Windows XP installation CD, the system begins to install the Fax component automatically. After the installation is complete, you can see a "fax" icon in the Printers and Faxes window.

Second, configure fax properties

Double-click the Fax icon to open the Faxes Configuration Wizard dialog box, and next to enter the Sender Information dialog box. In this case, the sender's information should be set up, such as name, fax number, office telephone, address and so on. The sender's name and fax number must be filled in, the fax number is connected to the modem telephone landline number.

When you have completed, click Next to go to the Select Fax Send or Receive Device dialog box. Select your modem in the Select Fax Device Column of the dialog box, check the "Allow to send", "Allow to receive" checkbox below, and select the following answer as needed, and if you choose "Auto Answer", you will need to set the number of phone rings before answering. When you click Next, in the TSID and CSID text boxes that appear, enter the phone number that appears when you send the fax file, so that it is easy to identify the fax machine.

When you are finished, click Next to open the Routing Options dialog box, where you want to set up the incoming fax files. If you want to print the incoming fax file, check the "Print to" checkbox here and select the printer name in the list of printed faxes that follow. If you want to save a copy of a fax file you receive in your computer, you will also need to check the "Save Copies to Folder" option and then "Browse" to select a folder to save your fax files. The Fax property has been configured successfully, click Next, and then click Finish in the Complete Fax Configuration dialog box.

Third, receive the fax

When a fax is sent, Windows XP automatically starts the Fax tool to receive files if your computer is online. When you finish, a new fax file icon appears in the system tray, and the fax file is saved in the format of the graphics file in the folder that you set up earlier.

You can view them in Fax Console, or you can browse through the fax files directly through some of the diagram tools.
