is the finder stuck requiring a reboot or is it necessary to reboot the Finder after executing certain commands? The following two methods are available.
How to operate on the Dock icon
Select "Reopen" in the menu by holding down the option key and right-clicking the Finder icon.
How to operate in a terminal
Open the terminal (application – utility), and enter the following command and return
Killall Finder
After you perform the restart command, the Finder quits and restarts, and the entire desktop is updated. Sometimes small troubles can be solved by restarting the Finder and not necessarily rebooting the system.
The Finder and other applications in Mac OS X are just a running process, so you can exit the Finder as you would any other application and turn it off completely. When you close the Finder, the desktop will not have an icon, and you cannot browse through the files in a Finder window.
