First, the DBA is a comprehensive work. The DBA itself aggregates the work of both operations and development, in other words, to be a qualified DBA not only to understand the database systems we administer and maintain, but also to understand the maintenance of the operating systems on which the database system depends. Further, we need to understand some simple hardware knowledge. At the same time, as the DBA is inevitably exposed to SQL statement optimization while also providing some technical support for the SQL, so we also need to be more familiar with the use of SQL statements than developers, Learn more about how to measure the performance of a SQL and how to optimize the performance of a query. So in my opinion a qualified DBA Engineer = System Engineer + Storage engineer +sql Development engineer. So to be a qualified DBA not only to learn how to use and manage a database but also to learn how to do SQL development how to maintain and model server hardware and software. and the skills of SQL development are a lot of people want to go from the system operations to the DBA domain of the lack of friends, and for some want to go from development to DBA friends, but also lack of relevant server operations experience.

Second, the DBA's work is a very need for responsibility and careful work, in my years of experience in recruiting DBA, in the actual work I would rather find some sense of responsibility is very serious but lack of work experience people do not want to find those who are technically very good but lack of responsibility. Because the database is very important to an enterprise in that respect, if the person who manages and maintains the database lacks responsibility or is careless at work, a simple misoperation can cause serious economic loss to the company.

Finally, there is a point to pay attention to, we must do a good job of database backup, which is to become a qualified DBA the most basic conditions. About the importance of database backup I'm not going to stress anymore, anyway, if you don't have a database that you manage and maintain, you're not a qualified DBA.
