How to configure a network device for connecting a notebook to the Console Port
If you use the Console port to manage CISCO devices, connect one end of the Console line to the Console port of the device, and the other end to the DB9 or DB25 interface of the computer.
DB9 and DB25 interfaces are generally only available on the desktop. We cannot debug devices around the desktop every day. Instead, we often use laptops to debug devices, many laptops do not have the DB9 and DB25 interfaces, while USB is the most interface on the laptop.
The DB9 interface uses the RS232 serial port (comport) protocol. Therefore, you can buy a USB-to-serial port (USB-to-RS232) adapter and install the RS232 serial port driver on your computer, activate a comport on the USB port of the notebook.
The price of USB-to-serial port adapter is not expensive. According to the product quality and Manufacturer's popularity, the price ranges from 15-yuan.
The following lists two common types of USB to serial port adapters:
The first type of USB-to-serial port adapter: No cable, directly in the form of a Adapter
Type 2 USB-to-serial port adapter: cable available, with an extended Cable
The method of using this adapter to connect is also very simple, DB9 on the Console is generally a hole, and USB to RS232 adapter is generally a needle, the needle can be inserted into the hole, such:
After the connection is completed, it should be the same:
Then, connect the USB head to the computer and connect the crystal head to the Console port of the network device.
Tip: Make sure that the USB-to-serial driver is installed on the computer.
