How to create a multiple boot "local disc"

Source: Internet
Author: User

This article describes how to create a multiple boot "local disc" that integrates one key ghost (for restoring the Local System), WinPE (for day-to-day system maintenance), Windows XP (for installation systems, hereinafter referred to as WinXP), Windows7 (hereinafter referred to as Win7), After the completion of the user only need to select the appropriate option to achieve a key recovery, day-to-day maintenance, and can install any WinXP or Win7 system.

In order to make the local multiple-boot system more convenient to use, we put a number of systems in a separate partition (which also facilitates our management). For the convenience of narration, it is assumed that the independent partition is the second logical partition, the letter is E:, the operating environment of this article is WINXPSP3. Partitions can be added by PQ or other zoning software to designate a dedicated partition, and then prepare the WinXP and Win7 system installation files.

The first step is to add a key ghost menu

A key ghost is actually a DOS batch program, and the DOS system consists of an IMG image. So for the convenience of operation, we can use the "one-click Restore Wizard" image file to complete. Copy the downloaded "yjhy" directory to E disk and add the appropriate code to "Menu.lst".

Tip: If you do not like the use of a key Restore Wizard, you can also copy the downloaded to "win99.img" and "memdisk.gz" to e disk, and then put the downloaded Backup and restore batch files "Yjbf.bat" and "Yjhy.bat" in any FAT partition (such as D disk , and also put "Ghost.exe" here, so that after entering DOS run batch processing can use a key backup/restore function.

Step two to add the WinXP installation menu

First use WinRAR to open WinXP system installation image file, extract all files to "E:xp". Then copy the "xp.img" file that you downloaded to the E disk. When you select the Setupwindowsxp menu, you will automatically enter the Windows XP installation interface.

Hint: WinXP automatic installation is actually through DOS batch processing "Autoexec.bat" file implementation, this "xp.img" file I have integrated the batch processing, the code is as follows:

A:smartdrv.exe

E:xpi386winnt/s:e:xpi386

However, since DOS does not recognize NTFS partitions, the prerequisite for automatic installation of these batch files is that C, D, E are FAT32 partitions, and if your computer C disk is an NTFS partition, use the WinImage (WinImage software is already available in the ZIP package) to open "xp.img" File and extract "Autoexec.bat" To Change "E:" in the command to "D:" and replace the source file. Of course, if you do not install the file in e-disk, you need to modify it yourself.

Step three add WinPE and Win7 installation menu

Since the WinPE is already in the Win7, we simply copy the Win7 system all files to E disk and then add "bootmgr" in "menu.lst" to enable the WinPE to be added. After you select Winpe/setupwindows7, the required files are loaded automatically and the Win7 installation interface is started.

Tip: If you want to use the WinPE system, select "Simplified Chinese" when the language selection interface appears, then click Next, click Repair Computer in the lower left corner when the installation interface appears, click No, open the System Repair Options window, and then click Command Prompt, This allows you to perform a variety of maintenance operations at the Command Prompt window.

Tip: If you want to install Win7 in the above WinPE, enter "E:sourcessetup.exe" at the command prompt to start the installation.

Fourth step to create a multiple boot menu

OK, the basic work has been completed, next is to create a multiple boot menu, so that our future maintenance work more convenient.

Copy the "Grldr" and "Menu.lst" two files in the download-related file compression package to the C disk. WinXP the user by opening "C:boot.ini", adding "c:grldr=", Win7 users can refer to the "Bcdtool" tool we introduced in the previous issue, add grub boot to the BCD boot menu, Select this new menu to use later.

This completes the boot manager and the multiple system boot configuration. It should be noted that if your system is consistent with this article (c, D, e disk are FAT32 format, C disk operating system for WinXP), you can directly use the download to the "menu.lst" file, otherwise please modify according to the instructions.

Hint: The above "GRLDR" start does not need to change the hard drive master boot record, the operation is more secure. But this method relies on the original system to start, hands-on users can try to change the hard drive master boot record for grub, run the downloaded to the "Grubgui" file, the disk select the current hard disk, and then click Install. After this reboot you can select the appropriate menu to enter, because this method to change the master boot record to grub, so even if you use "ghost" to restore the system can still be used normally.

Step Fifth Hide Multiple system partitions

The completion of the above operation, in fact, can be implemented more than the system started, but in order to prevent the virus or the usual misuse of the operation to destroy their own hard work, the author recommended that this dedicated partition completely hidden, similar to a lot of brand-name machines have exclusive one-click Recovery Zoning. Of course, the completion of this multiple system boot partition production, if you want to save space, Brand machine with a key restore function can not, so that the hidden partition can also be deleted.

The operation of a hidden partition is simple, as long as you run the download to "Eisa-v2.0.1.exe", the disk number is entered "1", the partition number is entered "3" (that is, e disk), click Hide Partition, and then convert the partition to a EISA partition (as shown in Figure 4). This section is completely hidden under windows (if you want to unhide it, rerun the program and click "Explicit Hidden Partitions").

Tip: In this operation, we actually only add "Grldr" and "Menu.lst" files (other files are hidden partitions) in C disk, if you reinstall the system or do not use the maintenance system we have made, just add the two files back to the C disk when you enter the system. Then rewrite the master boot record for grub to reuse.

After the above operation, your computer will be able to select the appropriate system for maintenance operation (the default into the original system). Can be a key to restore the system, you can choose to reload WinXP or Win7, of course, can also use WinPE maintenance system, how, now maintenance is not already able to achieve a key completed? And all in the hard disk operation, than the CD is much faster!

Tip: The Multiple boot "CD" actually uses only grub to boot the systems (the multiple system configuration is done through "menu.lst"), pointing through the configuration file to the system boot files to implement booting. You can add other systems to your local hard drive.

Now notebooks, netbooks are becoming more and more popular, but in order to make the notebook more frivolous, optical drive is also slowly eliminated. Although the use of USB devices can also achieve system maintenance and installation, but after all, not very convenient. and the system maintenance and installation of all integrated into the hard drive, not only to complete the usual system maintenance work, but also to achieve a reinstall system at any time. and the hard disk capacity than the CD-ROM, and support for real-time editing of files, can be modified at any time, but also to add any other maintenance system to the hard drive, can be extremely convenient.
